Very high for a safety as well, but seems they are running out of options at 3.

I do think these are exceptional S and CB.

Lattimore's 40 time would have been top end for a WR

1st round, No. 3 overall — S Jabrill Peppers, Michigan (6-1, 205)
2nd round, No. 4 (No. 36 overall) — QB Patrick Mahomes, Texas Tech (6-2, 225)
3rd round, No. 3 (No. 67 overall) — TE Jake Butt, Michigan (6-6, 250)
4th round, No. 4 (No. 111 overall) — S John Johnson, Boston College (6-1, 205)
4th round, No. 10 (No. 117 overall from Buffalo) – WR Kenny Golladay, Northern Illinois (6-4, 194)
5th round, No. 3 (No. 147 overall) — OLB Ejuan Price, Pittsburgh (5-11, 241)
7th round, No. 3 (No. 221 overall) – QB Alek Torgersen, Penn (6-1 1/4, 215)

I like the Mahomes pick. I think that is the route to go now given what they've done so far.

I don't mind a good Butt pick, either but he comes pre-injured. I'd like to see them go for Adam Shaheen, that guy is a freak at TE. You might be able to sneak him in the 4th round. And he love Chipotle.

I still think 3 overall is too high for Peppers. I wouldn't rule out a QB pick there either. I see no need to take a late-round QB if you are taking one in the 1st or 2nd.

It's never too early to look forward to 2018. My draft guy tells me that the Bears & Cleveland are hot on Baker Mayfield as a dual threat QB.

I'm hoping Jamal Adams from LSU or the CB. yes...both may be high for a #3 but both have playmaker potential...both are in the secondary....and that's the biggest need. there isn't a QB worth the #3 pick...that would be a mistake and yet another waste of a 1st round pick.

If I was a Bears fan I wouldn't be upset about Lattimore. The way I look at it, I'd trade that pick for Jalen Ramsey right now. If you're getting a similar player, I don't see why you wouldn't strongly consider Lattimore considering the need.

The bust rate on corners is too high. You could have Jalen Ramsey and (vintage) Joe Haden or you could have Vernon Hargreaves and Justin Gilbert.

Safety otoh...Sean Taylor, Landon Collins, Eric Berry, Earl Thomas have been outstanding and even the lies of Haha Clinton Dix or LaRon Landry have had their moments. Much higher success rate.

Clinton Dix is good. But you also have famous busts like Mark Barron and Michael Huff.

Just throwing this out there because Im interested in what the thought process of everyone would be.

Bears trade Cleveland pick number 3 for

Cleveland's pick number number 12
Number 33 (second round)
Number 52 (second round)

The Browns get 2 of the top 3 players in this years draft essentially and it might help their ticket sales.

The Bears would move down but then have 3 total 2nd round draft picks.

I think Ive been playing too much madden.

The numbers add up in the value chart for draft picks. Only about 40 points off.

Done!

not because I think it is such a no brainer for the Bears but because a guy I'd like to have will be there at 12 and there will be great DB and TE talent available in the second.

The Bears have had 10 first round picks worse than Michael Huff since Huff was drafted in 2006 (I have not verified this in any way, but I wouldn't be shocked if it were true). Huff wasn't a total bust.

Barron isn't great but the Rams handed him $20m last offseason, and now he's a linebacker or something.

No brainer from the Bears stand point. But this is not a top heavy draft where the Browns would want to have two of the top 3 picks. They will get great value at those 2nd round picks.

Sounds like the Bears were real interested in Watson at his pro day

Quote:
For a good chunk of Thursday morning, as quarterback Deshaun Watson worked through his pro day script, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney chatted up one of his most inquisitive guests. Bears coach John Fox was on hand as college football's national champions put Watson and 13 other draft prospects through their paces.

Fox and Swinney, for whatever it's worth, were hip to hip for the bulk of Watson's throwing session and for a while after it ended. So what exactly was Swinney sharing about the highly touted quarterback who over his final two seasons led Clemson to 28 wins, two playoff appearances and this past season's national title?

In part, the Clemson coach said, he was offering an intimate perspective on Watson the person.

"The production speaks for itself," Swinney said. "But it's also the things you don't see. It's what is inside of him. It's what's between his ears. It's the type of young man he is. He's the complete package. … He's chemistry on day one. He's leadership day one. He changes the locker room day one. He makes everybody better day one. "

With a huge gaggle of NFL talent evaluators on hand Thursday, no team came with a more impressive cavalcade than the Bears, whose observation party included Fox, general manager Ryan Pace, director of player personnel Josh Lucas, offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains and quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone.

Even after signing Mike Glennon to a lucrative free-agent deal last week, the Bears' presence alone at the Allen N. Reeves Football Complex on Thursday seemed to be a clear indicator that they're still exploring their quarterback possibilities.

Thursday's trip offered an opportunity to gather more intel on Watson.

The Clemson quarterback was measured in his own self-evaluation of Thursday's throwing session, understanding it was the last extensive piece of on-field evidence he would provide before next month's draft.

"Solid day," he said. "(I think I showed) I can do anything that they ask me to do. Everyone said that they've seen what they wanted to see."

Watson aims to be the top quarterback drafted, in that discussion along with North Carolina's Mitchell (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky and Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer. His college success and character have never been in question. But there's still lingering curiosity about how he will adapt to the NFL. Some talent evaluators still question his ability to read the entire field, to avoid costly interceptions and to throw a consistently accurate deep ball.

I've never seen an accurate pro day time.

I ran a 4.5 on my pro day and that was in Arthur Andersen's cafeteria.

Has Jason Bernstein's mock draft been released yet? We will know more then.

6-2, 205

7 INTs, 3 returned for TDs in 2016

One year starter, which is just a bit troubling (but only a small bit).

I would want to see his combine stats, of course, but I just don't see how this is not going to be MY GUY. Game changing talent.

This fills so many Bear needs. He creates turnovers, at which the Bears have been woeful. He is a coverage safety, which they do not have. He is also a willing tackler with 74 on the year. I think you can team him up with Amos or Jones-Quartey and have a good tandem back there.

His presence immediately makes the entire Bear D much better. You saw that when the pressured the QB their DB looked good. Imagine what it will look like if a DB actually IS good.

First feeling is the correct feeling.

Get me Hooker and Bear.

One year starter and part of a stacked secondary. I'm nervous.

Bears love a guy with a long injury history but high upside. This guy fits the bill.

lots of good safeties even in round 2 (Marcus Williams of Utah, Obi from UConn, etc.)

I won't do my usual hair on fire at the Bears pick this year if it isn't safety because of all the talent at safety and cb

I will be upset if they don't draft a S, CB and TE at some point in this draft.

No chance Peppers is still around for the second round.

I want Adams at #3.
