Today he said that he thinks that Seatle poses the biggest threat to the Bears.

No kidding Hood. what made you think that. the fact that they are 13-2 and are the number one seed.

Then he ripped off "pardon the interuption" show by saying. I think the colts have an advantage with home field advantage. No kidding hood. teams with home field advantage usually have the advantage.

They dont have to wear long under wear for there play off games and the super bowl.

Guys please listen to hood this week and realize that all he does is state the ovious. And steel lines from every other show.

I listened to him today because MJH are my favorite show. He drives me to the solo bernstein show in a heart beat.

I know Nastradamas will say that I am racist. Because he cant exept the truth that HOOD is a no talent hack.

I've been one of the most ardent Hood backers at this place. However, the rip job he did to several of his coworkers today was an embarassment. Jay, do you realize that your existence in this radio market is held on by a very thin thread?

I caught a little of yesterday's show and wasn't he ripping into Dickerson for not being prepared and making fun of his responses to OG in the show? It was kind of bush league and I'm normally a supporter of Hood.

I enjoyed listening to Hood when he hosted evenings at the Score. He hasn't been the same since the Telander fiasco. It's obvious that situation affected his psyche in a negative way. He has become bitter and defensive, and his not-so-veiled shots at his co-workers reveal an inferiority complex in full bloom. I sometimes find myself wondering if he knows he's on the air. He's on his last Chicago stop at MVP. If he keeps it up, he's gonna find out how exciting it is covering Bucks games. It's called humility J, look it up.

Someone said on here as soon as Hood got picked up by WMVP to do morning updates, he would start ripping Mike and Mike. I think it was last week sometime, when the two fill-ins for Mike and Mike were saying none of the Sox pitchers were 1st grade, Hood was saying during his updates to email them since they were wrong. He kept on saying how they were getting to him and that it was unbelievable.

No kidding. Hood should just give me the damn update without the commentary. It takes all he can muster to do a update read without stumbling all over himself.

It really is amazing how this no talent decends on ESPN 1000 and starts cracking on everyone. (Mike & Mike, Carm & Silvy, OG, JD, Dan Patrick)

Hood, I hate to break the news to you but you havent accomplished a damn thing in your career. You get a second chance and the few shows you do, you sound uninformed, angry, jelous, and just plain stupid.

i agree with A7on the downslide. they should put hood on evenings solo. he was great in that role at 670. he's also good with steve silverman. i'd listen to that in the evenings _ tho silvio is more for football season. could be a morning show, too? dunno on that one...

New to the board, heard MJH talk about it and looked it up. all the hate... is this necessary? I don't like the way people just slaughter the radio guys (north, og, mjh, hood etc...) just because you don't like them... don't listen and keep your biased comments to yourselves! It's good that the majority of people have enough sense to let these people have their opinions and creative style, how would you feel if someone did this to you on your job... might not feel so good huh? I think you people read too much into what these guys say.

Hood got fired from 670 for a reason.

I never bring up the fact that he doesnt pay bills. I think only one guy does that. People have listed other reasons. I'll try to take what i've been hearing on these boards for why people hate J Hood

-Fake voice (sometimes a white man voice, sometimes a black guy voice depending on who he's trying to impress)

-Fake laugh (tend to hear this most when he laughs at his own jokes)

-States the obvious (heard him earlier saying that Seattle is good because Alexander runs the ball well....wow thanks)

-constantly cracking on all on air personalities at the station (this coming from a guy who is highly defensive when people crack on him and who really has not had any radio success of his own.)

-unprepaired and lacks knollege (thought that the sox bull pen catcher was Iguchi's interpreter. Not true plus the bullpen catcher is Korean anyway)

-He is the update guy yet can't complete most sentences without stumbling

-Every time a south side Irish guy disagrees with him....even over non racial issues he breaks in to the Mike North voice mocking the guy and trying to portray him as a racist.

All pretty valid points, but I still enjoy listening to him when he's on his game. I can't stand when he rips on his co-workers though. And I'm never the spelling police, but isn't it kind of funny that you are questioning Hood's "knollege"?

Hood is arrogant and thinks he's a bigger deal than he really is.

Someone previously pointed out that he has the intelligence of an 8th grader and that's the extent of his topics/arguments. Beyond "how long should the Bears play their starters this Sunday", he provides no further thought provoking or additional insight to sports. Not that basic discussion is wrong, but his crankiness even negates that.

Your right about him providing little insight besides basic sports topics. This was very evident on the Rick Telender show.

Telender would bring up a thought provoking topic and Hood would give awkward responses. He would try to use that fake, white man, ron gleason voice to sound intellegent. But in the end he came across as a person who was overmatched and unqualified to shed light on any sophisticated issue.

I never said it was wrong to speak proper english. I just don't like the fake voice. Believe me there are plenty of white guys on the radio who are stupid and overmatched on thought provoking issues as well. (North)

Don't get me wrong Telender sucked too. But he did bring up some issues that were "outside the lines" and Hood was overmatched. I never got how some people say that Telender was the only reason that the show sucked. Hood sucked as well.

In your earlier post you defended Hood's fake voice by saying that he is trying to sell him self to different listeners and that OK. Well if we all know its fake then how is he selling anything. Plus I want people to be themselves on the air and not be a phony. I guess you and I will disagree on this

I think the reason Telander was somehow seen as being above the usual sports show was that many times his topic weren't really about issues on the field, but more sports issues off the field, i.e. social issues that involve sports.

He also liked to write about, and, from time to time, talk about sports that nobody cares about - cycling, olympics, etc.

His show was horrible. The only good thing he did was leave/quit instead of dragging it on.

I don't think anyone is arguing that Telender was good. We all no he was lousy. I just think the point is that Hood has a limited intelect. He can debate the common sports issues like every guy at your local bar.

But when an issue arises with a little more substance, Hood is confused, awkard, and out of his league. I think the ability to go deeper then the basic sports conversation is what seperates good hosts from bad hosts.
