It's their plane!! They were within their rights to kick off the entire flight and fill it with their employees. As long as everyone was compensated after the fact and they knew they would lose a lot of customers for it.

I promise you that doctor is the same type of guy bitching when his connecting flight is delayed because they are waiting on a new crew to arrive. Now you want United to shuttle their pilots in cars instead...

That guy also fucked over the entire flight because I'm sure they were late as hell. Plus the connecting flights in Louisville that the pilots were heading to. Then the other flights after that... He had a chain reaction of ruining people's days because god forbid one man gets inconvenienced in this world.

United could have handled this better such as not allow the plane to fill up, but they also offered these people up to $800 and a free hotel room. How is the chain reaction on him rather than on United for not having their employees where they needed to be, boarding people in the first place, and then refusing to offer market rate compensation to find volunteers to give up their seat?

And they had no takers. So it appears, the market, in this case was much, much higher. Also it was $800 in United Credits, if I'm not mistaken.

And the next flight out wasn't till 3PM today, so in my case, I would be burning through a vacation or sick day, which is worth $800 alone to me.

Can't these airlines cooperate better? I think the 3PM next day flight was a big hangup. I'm positive there was a late night Southwest flight to Louisville with seats. There always is... And cover his taxi from O'Hare to Midway.

And top it off with a MyPillow and some Sherries Berries.

Well I don't think the gate agents are offering concierge services. These are airline drone employees. They aren't seeing the big picture of thinking outside the box. They are just following company procedures. And the industry sucks.

This is why I always fly southwest when I can in the contiguous 48. They're always on time, great customer service and hardly overbook.

I think a guy refusing to leave after being told so is being a dickhead. He was told to get off the plane. He overreacted. The cops overreacted. Now everyone is up in arms about it. If this was some dudebro getting removed from a baseball game, no one would care. They would say that the owner of the building has a right to remove him and he should leave when told to. This guy should have left but he's special so god forbid the rules of us mortals apply to him.

Interesting, in that case, Delta offered $1300 for a one day delay on a flight, certainly more than United's paltry $800. I know Hank won't like this but seems United was not willing to pay market price and demands "corporate welfare". Won't people think of these needy companies!!!?!?!?!?!

The rule where they told him to get off the plane because he got bumped. He doesn't own that plane. The company told him to get off and he refused. What's so difficult to understand? He got a spot of bad luck dumped on him, happens to all of us from time to time.
