So, I don't listen anymore, but still don't mind hearing Mike, just not on the current stage. As bad as some of you think he is, the man is working without a net. The reaction from Lame Anne and Dead Fred don't create any good turmoil for Mikey.

so he is making some big coin, you guys need to layoff a little and give him some credit for carrying that show.

A7X,Mr. B, TAA, Good Dolphine, Big Fam, E Gregg,SMack, and everyone else should give him some credit at this point.

If you've read any of my posts you know I give credit when it's due. In the case of North, no dice. It doesn't have anything to do with the "coin" he makes either. For the umpteenth time, Mike North hand picked this staff from top to bottom. Any talk about him "carrying" this show is moot. He made his proverbial bed, and whether it be because of ego or pride, he chooses to continue to lie in it. He is the captain of this sinking ship. He knows it's failing, but does he try to fix it? No, he throws all his energy(and the station's)into pimping a god awful CD. I guess he sees that his future is going nowhere, so he'd better cash in on his past. Pappy hit the lotto, and became the guy he used to despise. As a long time fan, I find this sad. Predictable, but nonetheless sad.

I think you will see my appreciation for Mike in numerous posts in this section. He helped to create the SCORE out of nothing. His Monsters show was must listen radio. He worked very hard in developing a career in an industry he had absolutely no backround in. I will always admire him as a true success story and an entertaining sports talk host.

when the score first started as the underdog sports station, mike north played the role of mr regular guy. then when it looks like the station is going to make it, he starts doing anything for attention, like making controversial or stupid statements just to get a reaction from media and listeners. once he had the leverage of leaving the score to go to NYC, he let his ego explode and decide he was too good to have a partner and split his paycheck, thus we have the mike north shit fest. dump this prick and see what offers he gets on the open market.

The question is can he ever get back to what he was? Not with the crew he has now. Would another shakeup help? Fred is a good update guy and annie is..... Would someone like Mulligan be able to keep him on task like Jiggs did?

I think Mike in a sports capacity would be great. I just dont like the current version of the show. Put Mike alone talking sports or with someone qualified to have a discussion with him on sports topics and I would have absolutely no problem.

I know most people wont argue with me, but if there was some way to make Fred less of an ass licker and more of a traditional partner to spar with at times I would have no problem with him staying on as Mikes partner.

I don't think he can...he's been a complete turd going on a couple of years now. He needs to do sports only either alone or with a real partner. Even then he'll never get back to "what he was".

North was terrible when he was flying solo in the mid day slot. There was even more of Adopt a Pet, Fritzy's Night on the Town, etc crap on that show than there is now. And he did the same garbage talking about b-list has been singers from the 60's and 70's. Or, he'd have on his "good friend" Joe Mantegna on to promote his new terrible movie. It was probably worse than the show is today IMO. The Wise Guys was just boring and contrived.

North as a sports radio peronality, I like immensely. I attribute my sports radio curiousity to Murph, but I became a fan by listening to Pappy and Diddly in their early incarnations. Add to this that I have very little general interest in pro sports outside of the Bulls, the White Sox. and the Bears and you have a perfect Score listener. Pappy became unlistenable when he imagined himself and convinced decision makers in charge than he's a hybrid of Stern and Limbaugh. When he goes back to sports with a legit on air partner and fixes that crapfest I'll be the first here with the props until then... Johnny B.

You are basically correct, sir, although I don't know if was "worse than the show is today." The level of suckage has remained fairly constant in my opinion. I recall getting out of work one day a couple summers ago and tuning in to hear about something big that happened with the Cubs or Sox that day, sure he'd be talking about it, and what do I hear? His stupid wife blabbing about how some dog they're offering for adoption is good with children. Score, please get rid of this overpaid, self-absorbed windbag who you let ruin your station and give us SPORTS TALK back.

I'll say it again, no matter how much you dislike North, remove him from the lineup and look at what you have. A heaping pile surrounding B and B. I thought a bold move would have been to put Hood on with North to see if you could get a little of the Monsters magic back. Hood slit his own throat at the station, so I understand that move. The other move that would really shake things up is Bernstein and North. They would kill each other but it would be great radio.

Mike as a sports talker is good radio. Mike as a sports talker who appreciates that this job is better than working at the park district or hot dog stand is great radio. Bring back that North and you are bringing back the old SCORE.

I will not ever give that scumbag "the mafia is cool" piece of shit any credit.

He helped creat that show (I still dont listen but have heard snipets).

He brags about how good his show is.

He has ZERO talent and ZERO entertainment value.

Being stupid is not entertaining to me. Maybe to some of you it is.

He is never prepared so he falls back on things do divert the listeners attention away from his ineptness. Remember the "Dessert Island Quiz"? or "Predict the Score"? These "Bits" kill time without any need to prepare.

I listened to this station the day it went on the air. Mike was refreshing compared to COPPOCK. Then one morning he appologized to his listeners and fans because the nite before he had gotten a DUI. He admitted he was wrong and appologized. That was great until a few months later when he bragged that he "GOT OFF" on the DUI. FRom that point on he lost me a little more each day. ANd his head got bigger each day.

Now its ZERO North for me.

I will never give him any credit!

I will never listen.

Bel

One point I might correct you on is that mike created the show, he didn't help create it, these are his hand picked people from Rock, to Buch, to anne, jen and don't tell me fred was forced upon him.

he gets 99% blame for this ugliness

Belvedere, you made a good point that I didn't realize bothered me until now. North tries SOOOOO hard to be funny and he just isn't at all. Him and his two cronies are the only ones that laugh at his jokes. Bernstein is the only host on sports radio that has consistently made me laugh my ass off many times. He pisses me off when he gets all negative (Orton) but can be really good too.

North is/was good when he's truly passionate about an opinion with a guest or interview. Other times, this passion seems very forced. The worst thing that happened to North was The Sopranos because ever since then he's felt the need to act all mafioso as if that will give him street cred or something.

Good angle with the Sopranos.

But I remember when that show came on, North actually critisized the show because is wasnt "real" enough.

You got the diagnosis right. But it goes way back to the first Godfather. There were several refreshers along the way too, before the Sopranos. The Casino, Goodfellas... maybe others, not a big movie buff here.
