Never would have got a chance if the ball stopping bad knee having Taj Gibson were still on the roster. Good to have a 4 man that can make a play for you.

I liked Taj. He was a good soldier. But the past is for cowards and losers. My man Portis is the future.

I'm glad to see him soldiering on then. I'm a visionary. I will let guys like Walt be the master of the obvious.

Being such a visionary how in the fuck can't you see Butler is a top ten player :?:

Because he isn't you fool. I haven't really had a problem with the way he has played the past month. He has allowed Rondo to run the team and the team has looked much better. You know Rondo the dude that you said brings nothing so why play him. No credibility because you later bashed Hoiberg for having the gall to bench him.

Remember all the times I bashed him for iso ball? Well it (Hoiberg) must have gotten through to him. He has played off the ball more and it is working. That is what visionaries do. Monday morning qbs (oh the irony) do what you do.

If Butler keeps shutting down Thomas in the fourth and the Bulls take this series does your opinion change at all?

I've never had a problem with him as a defender and I don't think Thomas is that dynamic.

Butler is playing better now simply because he isn't trying to do everything. There are still 10 guys that are better in my opinion. This Bulls team is more than Jimmy Butler and I think he and hopefully Wade have finally realized that.

The key was Rondo. Once he began to trust Rondo they began to play better. I didn't see the game yesterday. Was on a plane.

The PER stat has Jimmy at 14, and it does not fully take defense into account.http://insider.espn.com/nba/hollinger/statistics

Jimmy came on late in that game, but Ike was right...early on the dude looked like he was drunk. I thought he was trying to give the Celtics the win for a while there...

Zipster is absolutely useless.

Grant (although he tossed in a three that hit all sides of the rim) was really terrible with the ball, shot way too much and way too early in possessions...couldn't figure out why Rondo wasn't back in with 5 fouls under 3 minutes to go...

Where was Valentine?

Rondo played really well but he's still a liability shooting. I've always liked Bobby Portis (without much reason) and I've always liked poor man's Noah Lopez.

Butler really did stick Thomas, the Celts were running a good pick and roll out top that Portis had a hard time defending. Wade was good when he needed to be, you could see him call his own number out of the timeout with Butler (52) and then sunk a free throw line extended jumper...

People are going to pick on Hoiberg, and I can't stand the guy, but did anyone else catch Marcus Smart (King of Flops) openly laughing at Brad Stevens and walking out of the huddle when he was going to be subbed for on the offensive possession? Speaking of Stevens, how do you lose to a team that gives minutes to Zipster and Grant?

Zipster isn't much, but he knows what he needs to do as a wing in Hoiberg's offense

Zipser's minutes bother you? Did you see Mirotic last night?

I don't think you can count on Bobby Portis to give you the same performance as game one, but if he gives you 10 points in the next game and Mirotic gives you 10 points that's pretty good for the power forward position. Rose was completely handcuffed when he tried to play ISO ball several years ago in the playoffs against the Heat. Thomas is even shorter than Rose and I would expect that Butler can take him one-on-one in the fourth quarter. Unless you have a Michael Jordan on your team usually the smaller player can be shut down by a defender with more size.

If by some chance the Bulls pull this off, I wouldn't consider this a typical 1-8 upset. Mathematically the Bulls could very easily have been a 4 or 5 seed if they had played a little better against some of the below .500 teams and had the Cavs not blown the last half of the season the Celtics would not be a 1 seed. If you look at the Bulls versus the Cavs they have just about the same record against teams above .500. The difference is that the Bulls are only 19-17 versus teams below .500. The Cavs were 29-6 against below .500 teams. But that was the inconsistency of the team in the regular season and how they failed to capitalize on the bad teams in the East.

That is the dilemma with this Bulls team. Are they as good as they have shown against the good teams or are they as bad as they've shown against the mediocre teams. I honestly don't know. They should have a better record. Once Wade and Rondo demonstrate they can still play then that should have been enough. I defend Hoiberg on some of the stuff but some of it is indefensible. You can point to at least 5 or 6 games that were lost in the 2nd half during the season which they should have won.

I saw him hit a 3 in the 4th. You are the idiot that first hated Rondo before you wanted him. Kerryesque in your analysis.

Those alternatives were on the team when you called for him to be benched idiot.

I was glad the Bulls won because if that stupid reversal on the deflection on the pass to Butler turned the game for the Celtics then I would have thought the NBA was busy fixing playoff games again. As it was they were giving Isaiah Thomas some ridiculous phantom foul calls.

Portis will probably only play like 12 minutes tomorrow and Niko will play 35. Jimmy Butler is the only Bulls player who doesn't get benched when he plays well. Hoiberg is such a clown.

I'm no Hoiberg fan, but to be fair, when they run his offensive sets they seem to look pretty good out there. That may sound simplistic, but I do think Fred knows offense and deserves some recognition on that end.

Nope. Fred is a fucking idiot who can't even recognize who his own best players are. He deserves zero credit and he's one of the worst and most overmatched coaches I've ever seen.

I'm with you. The Dude knows offense. You can tell by the types of shots they get. The offense only gets bogged down when guys i.e. Butler Wade and when he was here Gibson go one on one. Mirotic and his mad bombing style kills things too.
