I'm actually surprised to hear this. I thought Pappy was generous at restaurants. I always thought that was a way for him to show off. Treating everybody and tossing 20's to everybody on the staff. Making sure everybody saw him toss those 20's of course. I'm shocked to hear that he uses the "Do you know who I am?" to get free meals. I guess that's just another example of who he is. Always shocks me when the wealthy and/or famous expect free meals. The restaurant owner doesn't care that you're a rich failure on the radio Pappy. He still needs to be paid for that fucking steak and booze that you feel entitled too.

I can say from my first-hand experience I have witnessed personally that Mike IS generous with people around him.

As far as freebies, I'm not sure everyone here realizes that there are situations and establishments in town in which policemen, firemen, city and village officials, media people, athletes, and others do get free meals at some places from time to time. I'm not saying that some of these people aren't a little forward in asking for these freebies, but if Mike did it (and I have no knowledge of whether he did or didn't), he is certainly NOT the only one in this town who has walked into certain places anticipating a freebie and saying something about it.

Again, just saying the guy is not perfect.

Everybody knows he's not the only one Coast. Policemen and Firemen are given freebies by some owners of establishments. That's fine if the owners extends the offer. It's fine if the restaurant offers it to Pappy. They can do what they want. Although, I'm sure they do it for the return favor of him mentioning it on the air. Hey, that's for Mitch to watch out for. If he even cares.

It's one thing to accept an offered freebie. It's another thing to demand a freebie. If cops demand freebies they are ass holes too.

I have heard from a friend that has witnessed his so called "niceness" to people. He walks around park ridge and norwood park like he owns the joint and throws the whole "i'm mike north" in peoples face and expects free stuff all the time and is always looking for a handout. But on the other hand I do agree that his and helping out cops & Fire is awsome (as my brother is a Firefighter). I can't pass judgement on him personally outside the showbecause I don't know him, but I can say his show really has turned me off because he is always right, your wrong and if you don't agree with him you are a moron and you are wasting his time.

Here is one of my Mike North moments. We use to live in Park Ridge, so I would see him around town, anyway, one night we went out to eat and as we were walking up to the resteraunt, North pulls up. He hands the keys ot the valet and hands the valet a 100 dollar bill, tells the valet to go fill his tank and keep the change. I am thinking that it cost 50 bucks to fill his tank, so it was a cool thing to do.

When you're the top guy (salary wise), aren't you expected to produce? He's not. He's getting crushed in the ratings.
As for the nit picking, the guy constantly puts his foot in his mouth. Go back and look at the threads. He's either making a ridiculous claim (I'm the first guy that thought about radio row for the combine), taking a stand when the stats don't support his points (Kyle Orton should be the starting QB, Luol
Deng is one of the top five players in the NBA), making an error which shows his lack of sports knowledge (baseball has a salary cap), lack of knowledge of who is playing (pooh poohing Al Jefferson in the Celtics deal) or making insensitive or inflammatory comments (take your pick).
I EXPECT more from a the station's highest-paid employee.
Mike rips on athletes or celebrities who are overpaid -- but he needs to look in the mirror.
The show doesn't work -- ratings tell you that.
I would love to see someone like Brian Paruch or Drinky get paired with Mike. I just don't think Mike would go for that, because he would be exposed. His points would be rebutted and he might come out sounding like an idiot. His pride would get in the way.

Actually it's not just North who talks about revenue - Feder has recently confirmed it (WSCR = 8th, WMVP = 18th in revenue for 2007). And despite the misplaced focus on ratings, it actually is about the money.

The biggest problem with Mike is his ego always gets in the way.
He wasn't content with his stint with Jiggs, so he orchestrated the move -- which led to Danny's departure from The Score.
Mike wasn't content with his midday solo stint, so he moved to the morning.
MNMS floundered from the start, so they ditch a producer and Anne. Who's next.
The guy has connections, which helps bring in revenue, but his show has tanked for a while.
In the last few years, he argued with management (where's my billboard). He seems to want to blame the station for his woes, then he says the ratings system is flawed.
He just never wants to look in the mirror -- and he should. If he brought in a credible co-host, I think his ratings could improve.

Yep and that is something he said would never happen and still says it doesnt. North never mentions how he hand picked his staff, which like you said, are gone now. He has surronded himself with kids who he can boss around and intimidate. He demanded his show be done his way, what is the end result, it close enough to June to say, nothing and nothing he does will get him the money or time slot he has now when and if he gets a new contract.

Mike got some fame and it went straight to his head, he ditched jigs and doug, couldnt wait to get on his own and he never has sniffed the success he had before, why? Mike got rich, in turn he got lazy, he thought his name would simply breed more success, that didnt happen and he isnt smart to fix it and his ego is to big to ask for help.

I have said this 100 times, Mike lives to see his name in the paper, if he loses that, he thinks he will cease to exist, that is what he is truly scared of and that comes from a dysfunctional upbringing, he is a shrinks dream come true, they would make millions trying to analyze him.

Now with that said, I dont care what he makes, thats his business, but I am tired of hearing that trainwreck in the morning, I hope he goes back to afternoons with a solid partner, then I am a fan again, but if he stays on in the morning with this current format, he can have it.

Not only dumb, but with the IQ of a pizza. Grow up, you sound like you are 13.
