I mean you're basically asking what happens if he is a giant bust, which is a question you can ask about literally any player drafted this year.

I've never heard the guy speak before. He reminded me of manziel talking during his interview. He also has some tweets from high school that the sjw crowd will love.

it's because 2 years ago they were surprisingly cromulent with cutler, then last year they essentially decided to blame cutler for the last 10yrs so you know, #AnyoneButCutler nowadays, and now mike glennon.... mitchell (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky.... anyone but cutthead will lead this team to.... uhhh..... looking at the schedule probably 5-11, but hey you know i mean they sure will go out there and play 16 games like they're paid to, oh yes they will!

honestly, for the life of me i dont know why you dont keep cutler for 1yr/12mil if you know you're gonna wanna go 2011 white sox style "all in" for mitch trubitsky..... i guess by signing glennon nobody saw you coming?

He does have that kind of mindless turd drawl to him. The kind of guy you go out of your way to not engage in conversation. Im perfectly fine with not hearing him talk ever again.

Then from the looks of things lately you might have to move him to tackle.

Seriously though, the lack of communication between the Bears and (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky before this pick does sound bizarre.

He was clearly considered the top QB prospect by NFL front offices.

This is not true at all.

He was considered the top QB prospect by the Chicago Bears. That is all we know.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2017QB.php

Quote:
1. Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky*, QB, North Carolina
Height: 6-2. Weight: 222. Hand: 9.5.
40 Time: 4.67.
Projected Round (2017): Top-25 Pick.
4/25/17: (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is almost a certainly going to go in the top half of the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He is the consensus top quarterback prospect even though he has flaws such as a lack of experience and downfield accuracy. Still, teams across the league feel Trubiksy is the most polished of any of the 2017 quarterbacks.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was very efficient in 2016, displaying a quality skill set and accuracy. The junior beat up on some weak secondaries during the year, but it still is impressive that he had three straight games throwing for over 400 yards without throwing a single interception. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was impressive against Florida State and Pittsburgh before an ugly game against Virginia Tech. On the season, (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky completed 69 percent of his passes for 3,748 yards with 30 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also scored three rushing touchdowns. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky was a backup as a sophomore and freshman.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky has more of a second-round-caliber skill set, but what teams love about him his accuracy in the short to intermediate part of the field. They also feel he was the most consistent quarterback in the 2017 NFL Draft. Some teams have had second-day grades on many quarterbacks who ended up going as top-32 picks. Sources from three different teams told me they graded (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky in Round 2, but other teams have him graded as a first-rounder. One playoff general manager told WalterFootball.com that they rate (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky the highest because he has the tools to play with accuracy and athleticism.

Pace: Bears had private workout with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. Dined with him the night before. "I think him and his camp did a pretty good job" keeping mum

Alright, fair enough. NFL network kept repeating the storyline of how they didn't work him out or talk to him or whatever. I still think he sucks but that at least makes more sense.

I hate the pick, and the means of getting there. God I hate this team.

Waddle and Silvy sorta acted like they smelled smoke with (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky a couple days ago....they read a quote of him 2 days ago saying that the Bears hadn't even contacted him, and yet played a quote of him on the Dan Patrick show saying something like "the Bears are one of the 3 teams that have shown the most interest in him". But they never quite connected the dots. Just like the rest of us.

My main point on Cutler always was, and still is: He was NOT the biggest problem on the team. He still wouldn't be if he was still a Bear. He should have been better, could have been better. But this team is lost. Tom Brady would suck on this team.

Another one of my main points on Cutler was always: Who are you gonna get to replace him that is SO MUCH better?

I still stand by that. I'm depressed by this.

Alright I'm done trolling for the night. Final thoughts on the move - If he becomes a top 7 QB it was a fantastic trade. If he becomes a 8th-11th type QB it was worth it but I wouldn't call it a great move. If he's 12th-15th it's not a good trade but it's not terrible. That's a valuable player to have. If he's average (16th) to below average or worse it's a disaster. I think it's a disaster but obviously like many have said none of us knows. We'll see. Congratulations on the pick.

If they wanted a QB, they should have dealt the #3 pick for Garoppolo. He's more a proven commodity and ready to play. Gambling on a guy with just 13 college starts (losing 5 of them) with not just the #3, but additional picks as well, is crazy. At the top of the draft, with guys that should be difference making studs available, to gamble like this is nuts.

Because you know that Belichick would have made that move.

He has made two starts, and thrown ninety four passes in three seasons, in New England's system. The cupboard is pretty bare here.

Trading for Garoppolo is also gambling.

I haven't been this disappointed with the Bears since they traded for Cutler, a truly dark day..I hate Pace, he's a fucking fool.

This guy is a fucking moron. Mully and Hanley were saying he is either going to be a President of a team if this pick pans out or never GM again if it fails.

IF he traded down, got some extra picks and picked in the lower first round for some defensive talent,I think the majority of Bear fans would have been happy.

It seems like John lynch and the San Fran front office were able to bluff pace into giving up the picks.
Long story short, pace got gamed.

If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky ends up as a franchise QB, then who cares if Pace got "played"?

He's probably Ryan Leaf but the law of averages has to work out in our favor once. Right?

RIGHT??
