The rebuild has been restarted, so draft BPA, no matter what.

Just start drafting the best DB available in every round.

That is the worst possible idea now.

And as much as it pains me a bit (because of what we may have to pass on), trading back for more picks might be the best option in all honesty. It's just fucking irritating to have to do that after we over paid for a player that doesn't help at all next year to be our 1st pick.

I will be stunned if Pace does not trade back. He is going to try and get back some of those picks.

Yeah, I feel like we need to. Problem is, we have an idiot making that decision. I feel like Pace is the type of guy who would trade 1 quarter for 2 dimes because, you know, 2 is more than 1.

How's he dumb? Pace was on the verge of being fired, and now has pulled a rabbit out of his hat to give himself at least two or three more years as GM. This was a power move, because apparently Fox wasn't even aware what Pace was going to do until hours before the draft. He showed who's the boss.

IMO Fox was forced on him, I don't believe his seat was hot, Fox is gone after the season and I believe he was getting his own hire for HC and 2-3 more years.. He got played by Lynch, he really fucked us.

Pace will trade down now to get his picks back.

Need DB, LB, DT, OT, WR in that order.

They have a pretty good starting 4 at LB, and Willie Young really isn't a bad 3rd outside rusher for when McPhee inevitably misses a few games. I'm not saying they cant use another LB, but that need is dwarved by the holes at T (though the moving of Whitehair could solve this internally if he's up to the challenge) and DB. Also if the Bears buy the Darren Sproles comps Dalvin Cook may wind up being a tremendous pairing with Howard.

I do not see the pressing needs on the defensive line and receiving corps that others do. Hicks and Goldman are more than adequate and the addition of Sims and Wheaton plus a healthy (fingers crossed!) White could buoy the receivers enough. The WR position in particular may be better addressed next year when we find out of for sure whether White has any sort of future in the NFL.

In the Fangio defense, you can't have too much depth at LB. Trevathan is coming back from a major injury. Not sure how effective he will be after suffering a ruptured right patellar tendon.

DT in a 3-4 scheme is a difficult position to play, especially for a younger player. You're lined up over an OT that outsizes you by 30 or 40 lbs. and you have to control the run gap. So, I'm all for the Bears drafting a DT or NT in the 2nd or 3rd rounds, assuming they can get their guy.

But I hope they go CB or S with their next pick. The Bears secondary is shaky and has been for some time.

Pretty good haul to drop 9 spots.

I'd rather have a 3rd this year than the 6th this year and the 4th next year -especially in a deep draft now.

Robinson was already gone, he was really the only guy worth staying where they were at in R2 for. Sucks that Cook went, I kinda wanted him.
