RV, I'm surprised about your statement concerning Paruch. I could have swore that he said that he was a Cubs fan. ZZ has said on several occassions that he is a Cubs fan.
George Ofman is a Cubs fan -- Terry has busted his chops about it multiple times.
Jesse Rogers caught hell from Cubs fans in 2005 when he jumped on the Sox band wagon. He has subsequently changed back.
Stone shouldn't count for either. Working for the Sox doesn't make him a fan. Rongey is from STL and he is a Cards fan.
Jen doesn't count.

You left Terry off the Sox list.

I thought Ranger came to this very board and said he had been more into the White Sox than the Cardinals for a while before even taking the wraparound gig.

That is because Terry hates everything.

TB, when Paruch was on a saturday, he was talking White Sox and said he had a partial season ticket plan and has had the same seats for like 5 years.

Zach has said that he is more of a white sox fan, but has also said he likes the cubs, so I guess he could be both.

It doesnt matter to me who cheers for who, they seem fair in their reporting on both teams.

Brian said that he used to love the cubs, but when he moved down to Wrigley and people would piss in his yard leaving the game, he switched over to being a sox fan.

Don't forget Steve Olkin -- Cubs fan.
RV, I agree. There's a decent smattering of both sides fans, so I wouldn't say that the talk is one-sided.
When Chris took the gig I specifically remember B and B blasting him because he was a Cardinals fan.

I hear callers on the Score get way caught up it this Cubs/Sox shit. What host is a fan of what team? Who gets more coverage?

It's bullshit and childish. The Score covers them equally.

Murph might give the Cubs more discussion but so what? Hey, I'll bet Murph has more Cubs listeners than Sox listeners anyway.

I'm a Sox fan that is indifferent to the Cubs. But I still like listening to Cubs talk.

Guess what? The Cubs have more fans in this city. So if the Score leans to more Cubs talk so be it. I don't think they do however. Whatever the story is they cover it. Whatever team is winning late in the season dominates the talk. It goes without saying.

Yeah, I've never understood the fuss. Very rarely do both teams deserve to be talked about it huge quantities. In 2005 and 2006 you heard more Sox talk. In 2007 you heard more Cubs talk, at least not counting when the games were on or postgame or whatever. And regardless of which team you root for, you can really only go over the same damn stuff so many times.

The one good thing about baseball is that there's a game almost every day, so the story lines can change, but even still, a four hour or even two hour show on any one team can be tedious, even if its my own team.

Couldnt agree more. Perosnally, I dont even turn the radio on during those 3 game series, it isnt worth getting annoyed with all the meatballs.

I enjoy baseball talk either way. I think it boils down to who carry's the game over their air waves. The Score carries the Sox games which includes pre & post game coverage, along with the 2,3, or 4 hour marathon known as White Sox weekly. You would say that WGN is a Cubs station because they carry the Cubs. The problem for us Cubs fans is that WGN radio is lame surrounding the Cubs games where as the Score delivers more...and frankly better programming toward the White Sox.

The score gives Cubs baseball plenty of coverage but because they actually carry the Sox games, that obvioulsy leads to "more" Sox coverage.

I'm not complaining, just stating a fact...and a fact I understand.

I feel the same. Cubs talk does not send me running for the dial. I also enjoy local focus on the entire MLB.

Murphy IMO does know more about the AL and NL overall than any other host at the Scope, other than Boers. There are some of us who realize there are more than two teams in the majors and it is nice from time to time to hear one of these guys explain why the Cub cannot compete with the Mets or why the Sox don't match up well with Seattle, etc.

As a fellow Lyons Township Lion, with Murph, I feel I need to stick up for my old Double Play partner. I mean come on, the guys knows baseball, trained in Brookfield Western Conference, the guy played a flawless second base. He's the new Mr Cub, and just think, he 's never been given a press pass, and sure don't kiss any butt, and he still gets all the facets and nuances of what's going on, pure genious.

Is it hard to type while one hand is on Murphs dick? Trained in the Brookfield Western Conference? What the f does that mean? I played high school baseball in the Mid Suburban League, does that make me more or less knowledgeable? And if you are going to call him a "genious" you may want to spell it right, genius.

Sarge, did Murph have the mustache in high school? Did he ring the "double play bell" when he got back to the dug out every time you guys turned one?

You knew him before he was "the bleacher bum" Did you see him blowing his bugle in the infancy stages before he reached bugle fame in the Wrigley bleachers? Little did you know you were in the company of what would become a great man.

The only strange occurances I remember with Murph playing baseball, was everytime he struck out or made an error, he would swear at his mitt and/or bat and also would give them the "finger". We all thought that was a bit odd to say the least.

That was foreshadowing of how he would treat his producers one day. It's never his fault. He displayed that trait even as a boy.

I'm a Sox fan who kind of likes Murph. Sure, there's the Cub stuff, relating any topic to it, but he doesn't unfairly bash or ignore the Sox, rips everyone when they deserve it, covers all the sports, etc. I think he should get more time.

More drops than Nickelodeon's midday lineup. And he certainly takes his shots when he wants.

Murph's show long rant about Zell selling Wrigley Field and how that would "destroy the future" for the Cubs basically ended any chance I would have to listen to his show.

Like the Cubs have built up a dynasty, even without winning a championship already.

Murph needs to retire. Or at least have someone with enough on air strength to balance him out.

does he even give a reason why he thinks that would destroy the cubs tradition or what ever he wants to call it, let me clue him in on something if he reads these boards "THE CUBS TRADITION IS LOSING MURPH"

I'm certainly not going to defend Murph...but he does include the Sox in his conversations too. He is definitely slanted towards the Cubs, and as a Cubs fan I appreciate that. As a Sox fan (I assume you are) you have the Sox pre-games, games, post games, and White Sox weekly to feed your Sox appetite.

it all works out. whatever.
