This wrigley sale thing could be just so bad for the Cub in the long run.

Much more needs to be made of this, but if the park sells for $400 million and they put in another $300 million in improvements as they say, how much can a team afford to pay in REAL rent and still have money to pay players?

Unless of course all the politicians are paid for and the new owner gets a sweet deal on a per person attendanc clause.

Either way, looks like the State is in this deal. They can pay the most money because of some tax free muni bonds shit, so then they can charge the new owner the most and my ticket prices rise drastically, if not a PSL charge coming due. great.

Also, if the state is the owner, you can expect the proposed improvements on the old donut shop lot to the west to move forward much more quickly. The state could then sell off the entire package to a management company.

Reinsdorf gets free rent for the first 1.2 million in attendance. I wonder if the Cubs are gonna get that sweet deal.

You know, if we were talking about two real businesses, not baseball teams, people would be howling at how disgusting the conflicts of interest are.

This just stinks so bad. What are the political aspects of this? What can the alderman do? Taxpayers? Community? Obviously the Governor is ok with it because he is a Cubs fan..and a moron to boot.

This is just being forced through the system with no public input. How can that happen?

Also - The potential new ownership groups are not happy with the idea. They want to buy the stadium.

What can Selig do or say? How can Zell still have ownership percentage of the White Sox & the Cubs???

I sent an email 2 weeks ago to Public Avenger Pat Quinn and no response.

Where is Dick "Are the cameras on" Durbin?

At least the public is owed a clear and concise explanation

It's really not fair to Illinois taxpayers that they have to buy Wrigley Field for Jerry Reinsdorf's cronies. I'm sure they're thrilled in Carbondale!

I know he had some quotes in the paper recently about having to review the proposal because they were talking about the city losing tax revenue if Wrigley Field is sold to the state. The city would have to give up 30 years of sales tax or something like that. How can that just be accepted?
