I you are in Illinois on I-80 be careful from the state line until you get out of Henry county,they are always grabbing guys for dope.

Typically only folks with brown skin and/or out of state plates. If your not rolling dirty without either of those "issues" you are home free.

FWIW, few weeks ago going from PA to IL there was an ICE squadron in a rest area taking apart a pick up truck. Not sure if drug related or just because they were Mexican. Either way shit is out there and I assume more in agriculture states.

I wouldn't worry about it. Don't go more than 5 mph over the limit, and don't toke in the car. Use your turn signals. Pack your contraband well (mason jars).

I can't imagine that there are checkpoints along the way, like near the Mexican border. Every car driving through Nebraska didn't buy weed in Colorado. And who is going there specifically to buy weed? I have literally dozens of connects here in Illinois.

I will be travelling to Colorado next week and will be looking at bringing home some treats. I'm not going to be bringing home anything that would get me nabbed for some large scale distro charge, but I'm just curious if anyone else here has made the trip in recent years. From what I have been reading, I could encounter the following:

1. In places like Kansas or Nebraska you will be see road signs posted on the highway saying something like "Police Checkpoint Ahead". This is usually before an exit and the sign is placed there to scare people into exiting the highway into some po-dunk town that nobody normally exits to. It's at this exit where they nab people since it would be impossible to stop traffic completely on some place like I-80.

2. If you are pulled over, do not consent to any search. Police will claim they will call a K9 unit in, but it's illegal for them to detain you for an unreasonable amount of time (more than a few mins) to wait on a K9.

3. If you do get pulled over, and you do end up being searched don't be carrying any large amount of cash (Anything over $100). Police will confiscate it because it's "drug money". Civil forfeiture laws are great.

4. I heard from Hatchetman that if the cop offers to choke you, let them do it.

Does anyone else here have any tips or stories to share?

IMO, you have to be kind of a dipshit to get arrested for weed once you're older than 22 or so. I hate the laws too but you almost deserve the penalty if you're dumb enough to get caught

I meant 39 (by way of 90 in Machesney Park) not 30, but yeah that works. I can handle doing 73 in Iowa and the fiance will drive through Nebraska while I sleep.
