I think the way to put it is that tough questions need to be asked and can be done so in a respectful manner. If you respect someone enough, you should be able to answer any question or be kind in declining to answer. I think Jeff Dickerson does his job very well and asks good questions. If Lovie doesn't like the question he certainly has the right to not answer it. However, I've seen him all to often dismiss good questions as just being stupid or not worthy of response (think of any Rex Grossman situation, the Brian Griese drive without his headset working, etc).

Good reporters see through bogus answers and try to come through with good follow up questions. I used to love watching Ted Koppel host "Nightline" and tell his guests," I know what you're saying, but you still haven't answered my question." He never said it to come off as a jerk. He did it because the subject tried to dodge answering his on-target question. Granted what he did was news, but still journalism students-and that's what sports reporters were at one time- are taught (at least I was) to follow up a poorly or cliche' ridden answer.

There are bad reporters out there and there are some who seem to want to call the athletes they cover their friends. Those people need to be removed and replaced with people who can seperate doing their job from trying to buddy up to athletes.

Whatever happened to Baseball 365?

It pisses me off that it's no longer on the air, because I was waiting to give the genius that named that show a thumbs down, as it should have been Baseball 366 this year.
