Deauville?

there are some intriguing horses in there. beach patrol has been a goddamn disappointment.

I liked Mekhtaal before reading this article.

"Mekhtaal is a Group 1 stakes winner and that is the first requirement for being a win contender in a Grade 1 race. He is just a 4-year-old so is still not fully mature, which means he can run even better than he did when winning the Prix d'Ispahan Stakes in France in May, with an Equibase Speed Figure of 119 (foreign race figure from STATS Race Lens). That 119 figure was as good as the 119 figure Deauville earned when beaten just a half-length in the 2016 Million. Facing even tougher one month later in the Price of Wales Stakes, Mekhtaal wasn't disgraced one bit when beaten just three lengths by multiple group and grade 1 stakes winner Highland Reel and earning a 120 figure. Only worse than second one time in six races at this mile and a quarter trip on grass and with champion jockey Frankie Dettori coming across the pond to ride, Mekhtaal also has a perfect 3-for-3 record on firm turf and could be the one to beat in this year's Arlington Million."

https://www.americasbestracing.net/gamb ... on-million

The most speed in the race is Beach Patrol, Pizza Man and Oscar Nominated, in that order. Then comes Ghost Hunter. That doesn't include the Euro-invaders.

On an expected weighted winning percentage basis (graded stakes races only), it goes:

Ascend - 13.4%
Ghost Hunter - 11.4%
Enterprising - 10.4%
Oakbrook/Mekhtaal - 10% and 8.6%

This is a tough race to handicap. No real standout in the field, but a few G1 winners.

Yup. That's why I'm conflicted. All the horses I like are on the outside, and I don't want to make the same mistake as I did with Arklow.

So maybe this race is setup for the speed horses on the inside like Pizza Man, Oscar Nominated and Ghost Hunter? And you have Deauville, too, at the 5 post.

Beach Patrol has the same problem, too far outside.

But I still think Divisidero is the best horse in the race.

he beat beach patrol at churchill on derby day. but i don't think that's a rivalry this time around.

those euro horses are definitely going to be a tough call.

I picked up some money from my stepdad to make a bet on Mekhtaal for him.

I have no idea what I'm gonna do yet. I haven't taken any time to study the horses yet.

Sorry, man, I misread your post. Thought you were talking about the Million.

But if you do take Geroux, he will surrender position, like the French did with the Maginot Line.

"J'abandonne!"

I'm going out on a limb for the Million.

1. Beach Patrol
2. Ascend
3. Pizza Man/Oscar Nominated

Did JORR surrender, too?

This 8th race at Saratoga looks interesting.

#8 Off Limits the favorite at 1-1, but I'll take

6/5,8/5,8/1

Go Promotional! Nice looking horse.

Big down-pour at Toga.

That's Oscar Performance, Big Chief.

Oscar Nominated is in the Million.

See how Rosario fought hard for position in that opening quarter? That was the race right there. Masterful job.

You better have been taking notes, Geroux.

Like I said a while ago, Chad Brown in money.

Illinois racing can't be dead.

The Illinois-bred horses performed well today in the Million. Oakbrook, Ghost Hunter and Pizza Man were all in it, fighting tooth and nail.

When I saw Ghost Hunter make his move on the back, I thought Walt was in for a big pay-day.

And over $2 million was wagered on the race.

Great one, very exciting! One day it will be called the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky Million!

I talked Brad H. Cox into getting Joel Rosario next for Arklow.

Fearless jockey. I love the guy.
