Does Sox Nation expect better than .260-.270 , 20 jacks, plus defense?

They both have higher ceilings with the bat. Baez will always be useful because of his defense.

I don't want to hear about Cubs fans being fickle again.

You do know that Moncada did well in the minors, too, right? Moncada could still be All-World, and Jimenez could wind up terrible. There's no way to know right now.

No shit. But "nobody knows, it's worthless to make predictions" is pretty antithetical to even being on a sports message board. Bernstein would be proud though.

Jimenez resembles Dye in stature. Dye in his age 20 season OPS'd .818 in low A. As a frame of reference, Konerko in his age 20 season OPS'd .944 in hitters leagues in AA and AAA. Jimenez OPS is .951 in high A and AA.

I would not give up Jimenez for any current minor leaguer. Probably not even any teams top 2 prospects combined. He's got a perfect frame for power, legit 80 potential, with good (not just for his profile, like just plain good) aversion to swing and miss. His contact skills overall are exemplary. He also gets on base. He's only 20 and probably only separated from the majors by about 300 PA's.

He's far away the best prospect in the game. Perhaps twice as good as Moncada.

Yes.

The 1000+ OPS Nicky Delmonico might be better than all of them.

Its obviously a prediction. Why didnt you jump down dolphin's throat for assuming both would be better?

The answer is NO. Baez is an exceptional all around player. A 5 tool player. Jimenez should be a really good hitter, with power. But as an outfielder, he is below average. He takes poor routes on balls in the outfield and is not very fast. Moncada is nowhere near as good offensively or defensively.

An .801 OPS and .271 Avg is NOT exceptional. Baez has also struck out more times over the course of fewer at bats this year than he did all of last year.

Sadly, gonna have to agree with Wallpaper Steve. And Strikeouts are irrelevant. An out is an out.

Eloy won't be traded!

.801 is pretty good for a SS.

Moncada is already a better offensive player than Baez will ever be.

He's still below the moncada line, he'd be lucky to have the career of Auggie Ojeda.

Controlling the strikezone.

Ok, just admit that if a Cub fan said something similar you would mock him until the end of time.

Moncada will probably figure it out at some point and be pretty good. I don't think he's gonna be what a lot of fans hoped for though.

Jimenez otoh...he's special. The list of players in all of baseball I'd be willing to give up Eloy for is very short. Can't believe he was had for mediocre, over the hill, Quintana.
