So Friday morning my wife gets a call from her dad at 5am telling her that he has to go in for surgery on his colon to remove a blockage. So my wife tells him to let her know how it goes and have her stepmom keep her informed.

Later that day, she gets the following string of text messages sent to her from a cousin.

Text 1: News good on your dad. I thought you might want to know.

A few minutes go by and then she gets this...

Text 2: Correction. Not good at all.

No text message follows after that, wife replies back, WTF? A 3rd text then arrives...

Text 3: Most likely colon cancer.

So needless to say the wife is pretty upset. Pissed at the step mom for not calling her to tell her what was going on. Pissed at the cousin for being an idiot.

Probably not the ideal way to find out your dad might have cancer.

That sucks. Sorry to hear.

Cousin may have an excuse. I mean sounds like she was just passing info along.

Did they not do the surgery? Maybe she heard no surgery and thought that was a good thing?

yea probably not the kind of info you should mess up. Also not the kind of info you should send via text. Also, not the kind of info where the daughter should be finding out after some cousin. Step mom is a real Caller Bob, pretty sure the wife even called her that in the aftermath lol.

they did surgery, ended up removing part of his colon. Not even sure if he has cancer, the communication broke down after my wife went off and motherfucked just about everyone in her family lol.

Its all good, in the end this is less family shit I'll end up having to go to.

Yea, cousin shouldn't have had to be the communicator there.

This is like the Curb Your Enthusiasm where they dont tell Larry his mom died because he was in NY shooting a movie and they didnt want to bother him.

A smaller colon will do that.
