so i had hosted my annual horrorthon of bad movies yesterday which was why i didn't say anything in this thread. i figured, why waste CIJ's time when i know i can't make it.

as someone who hosts gatherings, it is infuriating when you get the no show without a head's up. when you're expecting them. i get it when you may not know someone real well, you throw out the invite, you don't hear anything--no expectation. fine, that's totally reasonable.

but what CIJ is talking about, i totally sympathize. luckily that didn't happen to me yesterday but it has happened in years past, and it really sucks.

I have no idea who said they'd come and didn't, so I'm not pointing fingers. That's a douche move not just to CiJ but the other attendees as well. I like CFMB events, would be a shame to be less of them because people don't want to have them.

What is he going to do with all of that paella?

Ajent said he was coming and with other people. Shot him my cell number and address in a pm. FavreFan said he was coming and didn't. I also shot him a pm with my number and address. I also sent him a message on messenger. Nothing from him either.

My wife took the time to make a couple dips and she made her cheesecake brownies as well. She took the kids over to her parents house and stayed the night there so everyone would be out of the way. She also helped me set up everything.


So yeah thanks to those that couldn't be bothered to send a text or pm or anything.

My days of inviting board members over for a poker game are over.

that sucks man. like i said in my post above, i understand. the thing is, when you host, you put a lot of work into it. it's not just "i hope this happens". we usually wind up with leftover snacks abound, but it's overcompensating for people who do show up. that's ok. overcompensating for people who bail like that...kinda unforgivable.

That absolutely sucks. I have had a couple situations like that with things I have planned. It is pathetic that people cannot take a moment to notify you.

also want to add, that's kinda sad too. i remember in the hayday, we had 2 tables going. it was like an actual tournament. good stuff. and i always looked forward to those cheesecake bites. those were amazing.

yup. i remember showing up early one time, still in the garage. you were setting up the TV for some MMA. it was funny, like what do i do? you gave me a house tour. lol.

Yeap, it used to be crazy with how many people would show up. It’s about dead now. I knew it was over when the Mirage shrunk its poker room by more than half.
