Dylan and Springsteen fans are the only people who I've ever actually seen get violent with their detractors. One was my good friend who threw a heavy object at my other friend due to the second friend trolling him by flat out saying "I hate Bob Dylan" knowing the first friend masturbated to him on a nightly basis.

I think I'm getting a strain of Trump Derangement Syndrome where I want to talk like him in totally inopportune and incongruous situations. Folks! Bob Dylan! He's good! Forget it. It's over! Everyone knows this!

I'll get revenge on pittmike for the Nirvana comment, but one band whose fan base has always annoyed me with their weird devotion is Paramore.

Fans of the Melvins and Mudhoney used to think that every other band from north of San Fran and West of SLC were poseurs.

What if the band would have despised the audience? I can't imagine Bob Marley would have liked frat boys grooving to his Greatest Hits album.

On the other hand, his fans have produced d-bag comments like the one Will Smith's character, speaking in an earthy, gravelly voice to evoke Seriousness, relates in I Am Legend: "MMMM, Bob Marley, man. He was like a virologist, and he believed you could cure racism and hate."

Great idea, Dr. Bob.

Most hardcore Beatles fans are insufferable pricks.

My list has to do with how annoying fans are with musicians that died young. They invariably must be the best of all time. No discussion. Pretty sure had they lived they would be viewed differently.

In my school, the kids at the freak trees loved RR even before his death. I think crazy train was out like a year before he died. The faithful knew everything about him and would not shut up. I can still remember people describing how he would play every third note in the studio or some shit so it would sound perfect... Blah blah blah.

You're totally right, afterward they were insufferable.

Yeah, I don't get being a Nirvana fan. They were all right. Maybe I was too young and had to be there. The worst part of Nirvana fandom is that with no actual Nirvana to channel their passion into, they've had to bifurcate it into elevating Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters into the living-legend status Nirvana could never have.

Because young artists that die young avoid the lifetime of shitty music that they would inevitably record. Think of someone like Paul McCartney. 10 years of fantastic legendary music, and about 40 years of absolute dreck. Its better to cash out early and have people remember your whole career as great.

the real paul died in 66. fake paul, or as everyone knows him as faul, is the guy we've been seeing for the last 40 some years. He's not a bad musician for starting out as a body double and then assuming the role when the original died and they didnt want to start a panic. the truth wll come out in time.

Great thoughts.

I'd say dance gavin dance fans rank 1.

Dance gavin dance fans are like vegans and Crossfitters. You find out about their fandom immediately and every 15 minutes for the remainder of their time on earth.

Wait! Are you seriously telling me that Bob Marley does not turn over a little in his grave each time Wayne Stylie high-fives one of his boys when someone plays "Redemption Song"?

I used to love you.

Consider yourself part of the problem.

Hard to call out an entire fan group when there are so many loser groupies all over the place. Get the right ass hole trumpeting the wrong band and anyone can easily say "ALL XXX fans are losers".
