We'll see. Mitch looks mediocre so far.

Fair enough. I'll agree he's been 'meh' so far as well. But I'm going to give him time. There's just not much to work with from the play calling to the talent around him. I know there has been similar excuses in the past -most notably for Cutler- but its also true right now. Mitch literally is out there throwing to cast offs and Josh Bellamy with Loagins calling the plays. That's a tough situation for a rookie qb. Shit, that's a tough situation for any QB.

He is usually careful with the ball tho, so there's that at least.

My best guess is the refs enjoy involving themselves. There's really no other way to explain it.

I call that in my high school crew and I'm buying next weeks post game dinner after film review during the week.

the Bears coaching is not good. This drive kind of proves it, they dont know what they are doing. (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is literally walking around his hands out wondering what to do. all sorts of bad false starts and illegal formation calls... the guy is just playing backyard football as a rookie. its not fair to him, he's not getting a real chance.

The whole offensive staff...absolutely. Let Fangio call both O and D in the 2nd half

The whole team calling timeout, and the refs almost let the clock run out. Fucking brutal.

Another terrible penalty call.

Refs just have to get involved.

Let guys fight it out.

They showed the touchback again in slow motion. It was clearly a fumble. The ball was out when he knee hit the sideline.

Toe was already out before then.

You and Chris Spielman should get a room.

What about wasting 10 seconds before calling a timeout when they stopped Green Bay on 3rd down? Little shit like that drives me nuts.

GB fucked up there. The refs were ready to let it run out but the one guy "stopped his forward progress" after he got back up when he was tackled the first time.

Yeah. Seems pretty obvious the toe is down.

Indisputable video evidence was clearly not there.

Goodell is pretty obviously on the outs, so hopefully the league is going to snap out of the malaise of the last 10 or so years and fix this shit. Somebody needs to give the players some concessions in the money so they actually have to fucking practice in the summers, because the quality of the play is bad. Its a trade-off the league needs to make with the understand that they are going to lose fans with how bad the play is.

That and they need to cut down the size of crews. If there are cameras everywhere you dont need 5 refs. One ref watches the line and backfield, the other watches downfield in the secondary. Fewer eyes means fewer calls. It also saves the league a bunch of money I dont know why this hasn't been done. Is the refs union really that powerful?

I agree. Except that is not what happened. His foot dragged out of bounds before the ball was lost. Once you are out of bounds, the play is over regardless of what happens to the ball. That has been the rule for as long as you have been watching football too.

Exactly...couldn't figure out why they weren't calling one right away there.

Ok. Now tell us where his foot was before he lost control of the ball.

They have 7 (Most DI college conferences have 8...). Five is what we use in high school in Illinois and with spread offenses that is asking a lot sometimes.
