I haven't listened to terrestrial radio or sports radio since I got my Sirius Radio a month ago. Sirius has plenty of sports. Sirius has comedy, talk, entertainment, a zillion commercial free music stations, and best of all, Bubba The Love Sponge, and the only king besides Mariotti, Howard Stern. The Chicago area Best Buys are down to 2 - 5 units in stock at every store. Sirius is the cabbage patch doll of the present. The only way I think I'd listen to FM/AM again would be if I heard Mariotti gets a show. Mariotti should come to Sirius. Join the revolution with Sirius.

Thanks, Jay. I agree with you. Many more entertainment and sports radio options. It also makes us appreciate even more how lousy most of the Chicago home grown programs are. Now don't you have a column to write attacking somebody or kissing Jordan's ass?

I hope Sirius goes into heavy bankruptcy - they are already 2.4 Billion in debt.

Radio should ALWAYS remain FREE!

FuKK Howard Stern and Fukk MARIOTTI's punk ass! Get out of Chicago, you BUM!

I loved Stern but I don't think I would ever pay for radio.

In 1965 when cable TV began, my mother said she would never pay for TV. Never is a long time. Actually, in our case it was just a few years. When traditional media don't provide the right set of programs, other media moves in and people will pay for better choices. You can continue to live in the past with "free" radio all you like. In fact, maybe you should start your own "lost in a time warp" club and invite all the people who still watch their five channel TVs with rabbit ear antennas. The ten of you in Chicago could have a lovely time.

Dude...in twenty years everyone will have satellite radio like everyone has cable. It will be improved over the next few years as well. Imagine new homes having it piped in every room. They are already puting it in some new cars. I thinks its cool. And when you think about it, isnt $12 a month worth not having to hear 25 minutes an hour of commercials where North is selling something? Where do I pay?

Anyone have recommendations for satellite radio service?

I've heard bad things about reception and equipment failures.

Besides, Walmart gave me raise to $6.50 from $6.45. I think I can swing the $12 a month now!

Before I heard about Love Sponge and Howard going to Sirius I was debating which one to get, in particular because of all the crazy amount of commercials on The Score. XM from what I heard doesn't get good reception. They only have one satellite. Sirius has three. I can honestly say if Sirius is installed properly it gets perfect reception. Sirius is really great for people who like radio.

Marrioti guy, you must be jay marrioti because you don't do your research either. XM has 2 satellites, one over the east coast and one over the west coast. It also has terrestrial satellites all over the country. I can personally attest to the fact that there are terrestrial satellites over most of the suburbs of chicago. That means you get just about perfect reception. I have not had any problems getting reception at home or in the car. I would recommend anyone going to the store, getting the cheap xm or sirius radios, and trying it out for a month. I still listen to local sports talk when there is a big local story but otherwise I don't touch the am or fm dial. Marrioti guy is right though, satellite is so much better than fm/am. The only radio to survive will be local news and sports talk since you only get national sports. The national stuff is not bad since there is variety and you can avoid the booyah network when they have 6 months of yankees-red sox programming. Trust me, give it a try.

I just wish I could buy a walkman Sirius with live programming....

Also would be nice to switch to local FM/AM on a walkman portable device....

Me too! I take the train to work and would love to listen to Sirius, but I'm S.O.L.

I've heard conflicting things about the future of a portable Sirius live player....Some people have told me they will have one by mid-year, others say no, but I'm pretty sure XM already has one.

I saw the portable player they have on their website and got excited, only to realize that it stores programming for later playback.

yeah, me too!
I've thought about getting XM and probably will if I don't hear anything about a new product from Sirius by the spring.

Won't be long and we early adopters will have those choices. I also predict it won't be more than 2-3 years and a manufacturer will reach licensing agreements with both XM and Sirius to provide the programming from both on the same radios.

I have a myfi xm radio and it is like a walkman. It will record shows but also can be used live as a walkman. Just an fyi. I love it.
