As one who has supported Hoiberg there is something troubling about the way he coaches. One of the things that he has yet to correct since he has been coach is shot selection. Everyone regardless of ability and skill has the green light.
There is no reason that guys like Holiday should be taking the most shots on the team. He is a journeyman and definitely not part of the rebuild. Before him it was Mirotic and Portis. Whenever these guys are open at the three point line and beyond they feel the need to shoot. There are never any repercussions for it either. It's almost like watching a,pickup game at times. Too undisciplined as professional players.
I know he believes that he is instilling confidence in them by allowing them to take such shots but it's still bad coaching. It's helping to create a bunch of undisciplined players.
Couldn't coach Butler ,Wade , and Rondo. You just stated he can't coach this bunch. So guess what?
Actually Rondo didn't really have a problem with him.
I have Hoiberg to be gone after next year anyway. If weren't for the 2+ years that he has on his contract then he probably would be gone now. I don't see them eating more than a year of his deal.
It doesn't really make sense to whack him now anyway. Bulls lack talent. Doesn't matter who their coach happens to be. They don't have enough NBA caliber players to compete against the better teams.
This year is mainly about the 3 guys that they acquired in the Butler trade. It's also about draft positioning. I don't think Hoiberg is the guy at this point but I also don't think he is the biggest problem affecting the team. They have to upgrade the talent on the roster first.
