The two 3rds and 4th round pick are overblown. If (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is a bust and Pace didn't trade up for him, would that have made the pick ok? On the same note, if Mitch does turn out to be a franchise QB, nobody is going to give a fuck about those picks either. It will come to do if he can play.

I think he has a chance to be at least league average. But being drafted by the Bears is like being drafted by the Browns now. He has no chance to be good with this franchise.

I think, if the Bears wanted Mitchell to be decent, they would get him on the move. The is pretty damn athletic and very mobile. Much more effective on the run and outside the pocket.

So your contention is that he should have fixed everything else in one draft, while ignoring the single most important position in all of sports?

My contention is he should have done a lot more to address the needs of the team, especially in free agency, and that I don't think he deserves an automatic pass for this season because "our quarterback of the future may be ready next year." I said it in the summer too, this is just like GarPax perpetually moving the window for the Bulls one season into the future so they escape any blame for failure in the present.

But hey, given how important quarterback is, maybe the Bears should consider spending their first round pick this year on Darnold or Allen just in case the (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky thing doesn't work out!

That's not a good way to look at it.

No matter how confident you are in a quarterback pick, there is still a decent chance it is a bust. The picks made that chance even more damaging.

You have to look at any first round quarterback as a chance at a good quarterback, with the idea that if you fail then you just try again.

That's how I think you have to view quarterbacks in the NFL draft. Take your chance on the best guy available that makes sense there are hope it works out. Even Andrew Luck may end up being a failed pick and he was the most can't miss prospect since Manning.

Not sure if you need a Gantt chart to understand this..but..if in 3 years Trubiski is a franchise QB for the Bears, nobody(except you) is going to give a flying fuck that Pace gave up those extra picks.

Yes. A bad process can lead to good results.

The goal is to give yourself the best chance of long term success and Pace clearly didn't do that.

A bit harsh. Brees was so bad they drafted Rivers. He can still develop.

He was fine today.

You can see the coaching staff isn't trying to develop players and just want to win games, which is limiting what they are allowing him to do.

One thing I'd llke to see him work on is being able to feel when the pocket is closing and throw the ball away instead of taking a sack.

What was there deepest throw today?? 15 yds??

This is why I think the Hogue comment is total bullshit. They weren't playing to win. They were playing not to lose.

Yeah it wasn't great. That's why I said it was fine.

As for the comment, isn't that the same thing here? They Don't want to risk a loss by seeing what these guys can do.

Maybe they all suck but let's find out.

He may very well suck. I personally think he does but we don't know for sure yet. You can't throw the ball 15 times in todays NFL. That is unacceptable unless its a crazy weather game.

Meanwhile Tom Savage just threw 31/49 passes and 365 yards.

There is nothing wrong with a rookie throwing 20 INTS.

What? He's played in 6 games with the worse WR's and offensive coordinator in the NFL. Offensive line is pathetic and a head coach that is more concerned about wins then developing Mitch for future success.

He may very well be a bust, but no one here can say he is not a franchise quarterback after the complete shit show he was drafted into. He wasn't even suppose to start this year, but Pace pissed away millions of dollars on a QB that couldn't beat out a QB with only 15 total games started in college.

Pace should be fired! But lighten up on Mitch. He is in a no win situation (literally)

Give Mitch at least two years before you decide

The kid has only what 6 starts in college? He's a kid and hanging in there with the pros. His upside looks huge.

In the event of a Browns win on Christmas Eve, I can't wait to hear how Cleveland just has so damn many more weapons and resources than the Bears.

Josh Gordon is back and better than any Bears receiver.

I guess I have to continue to play the "better than every Bear WR game"

name a Bear WR better than Corey Coleman, Josh Gordon or even Kenny Britt for that matter. Now David Njoku is developing as well at TE. I think the Bears are better at RB but the Browns are not bad with Crowell and Johnson.
