I don't know. They still might have had to beat the Packers. Regardless, kicking a long FG on 2nd down is not Gould's fault. And there were MANY other problems that caused the Bears to miss the playoffs.

But eight wins seems like a pipedream for the 2018 Bears.

Missing a 2nd down field goal was his fault. And they would not have had to beat the Packers. They had already beaten them once that year.

I'm glad Trestman is gone and a made field goal would have prolonged a far worse program.

That and he cost the Bears a play off spot when he shanked that kick at MN in Trestman's first year.
Trestman's defense gave up 50 points, had a bye, then gave up another 50 points. They also let the Packers convert on 4th down twice on their final drive before Chris Conte blew his coverage on the game winning TD pass against the Packers (which was also a 4th down).

It is absolutely foolish to blame the Bears missing the playoffs on a second down missed FG attempt.

Point....better counterpoint.

Who died and named you John McLaughlin?

If Gould makes the field goal, do the Bears make the play offs?

As senor columnist would say, it wouldn't have mattered, they weren't a contending team,so it's all moot in my book

Any chance the Giants try to poach Pace since Accorsi will be overseeing their GM search? And does this mean he'll be unable to provide his insight to George and Ted when it comes to hiring Fox's replacement this offseason?

Maybe that's a good reason to wait another year to fire Pace and Fox; besides saving the McCaskeys money, waiting until 2019 will also free up Accorsi!

I can't believe the Giants hired that dope Accorsi. Now Sweaty Teddy can say, "See, we're not the only team that's completely clueless!"

I like The New York Football Giants because not only do their owners aspire to be country club dipshit WASPs like the McCaskeys, a lot of their fans do, too. ~Mister~ Mara.

I'd say he was pushed on Pace. Irrelevant though..have some balls and insist you are the GM and hiring your own people.

They were set to hire Bruce Arians but did something to piss him off (that I am forgetting now). Imagine how different the organization would be with that one decision.

Arians has squeezed life out of Carson Palmer. I bet he would have been a big positive on Cutler.

They wanted him to do a mock press conference, he said no.

They also wanted Arians to keep Rod Marinelli, when Arians wanted to bring in his own defense coordinator(who would have been future head coach Todd Bowles).

The bears liked Marinelli and asked him who they should hire..he said Bruce and those dumb fucks picked Trestman.

They want nice guys that won't disrespect the boobs in Lake Forest.. not football guys who can turn this shit show around.

They do seem to like nice polite gentlemen: Jauron, Lovie, and Trestman were all like that. Wannstedt and Fox are a little footballier than those three, but they'll never allow another Ditka.

There was a point not too long ago where at around the halfway mark of the NFL season, the Blackhawks had more wins at Soldiers Field than the Bears did.

You have MANY bad thoughts. Last season, you started threads claiming that Barkley was the QB of the future, and that the Bears could make the playoffs even though they had already lost 8 games.

I would take Barkley over (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky. The Bears are completely stupid to have left him go.

You forget that the guy almost beat Green Bay last year, even with Rodgers.

Except for the NFL having a bad playoff structure, my thoughts are good.

This is why you are correctly accused for having bad thoughts. These are fucking terrible.

Grasu got injured but he wasn't as good as I thought. I thought they could put some weight on him. I liked his smarts for the game but he couldn't make up for his lack of size.

Still on the team.

I feel good about many other picks of which I've been a fan. I won't list them so as not to brag.

But they are the best picks, the best, and I know all the best words to talk about them.

The first quarter of the first pre season game Grasu played in was my "oh shit" moment with him. His technique was fine but he was getting pushed back by third stringers.

Pace could have signed Keenum and Foles and had 6 million left over..instead he chose to go with Glennon and over pay.

He also kept C.Barth over Lambo when he was available. Can't wait to see who he overdrafts in the draft.
