These have been around a while, but seriously, fuck this shit. They take a simple process of pouring oneself a drink and turned it into a goddamn bottleneck and serious pain in the ass. Wendy's has these fucking things, and i discovered Five Guys has them as well. My daughter and I went into Five Guys to get a quick burger this weekend while Christmas shopping and there was literally a line of half dozen people waiting to pour drinks because of the assholes in front of the line trying to figure out how to pour whatever weird-assed flavor of Ginger Ale they wanted. What a monumental waste of technology. At least at McDonald's multiple people can walk up at one time, pick from the 6 or 8 different drink offerings and be done with it. Do we really need to have 10 flavors of Coke and 8 flavors of Ginger Ale and 12 flavors of Powerade, all form the same dispenser so that you have to wait one at a time to get a drink? Plus the goddamn things always are flocked with kids because they are up there getting refills and mixing all this shit together just being pains in the asses.

Wendy's and Five Guys are no-fly zone's for me (at least if the plan is to dine in) simply because of these abominations.

Oh no, a line of 6 people! That must have really slowed you down for the 10 minutes you waited for the burger.

Exactly.

Isn't everything at Five Guys "made to order"? They're cooking that burger fresh, and it usually takes a minimum of 5 minutes for your food to be ready.

We've had a lot of bad takes, but this has got to be Top 10 or 20.

MOFO comes from the instant gratification generation. He needs to slam his 32 oz of soft drink and he needs to slam it now! Flavor? The only flavor he cares about is 100 g of sugar baby!

Fuck yeah, if they are gonna make me pour my own fucking drink i dont want to have to stand in a line waiting for everyone to decide what flavor of fruity sprite they want. Half the people cant even figure out how to use the thing.

no complaints with the burger actually, pretty good! Would have liked to have spent the time waiting for it sipping on my very basic, easy to pour Coke chatting with my daughter instead of watching Grandma try to figure out how to work the soda fountain.

Partially supported because at the 5 Guys I go to it always seems like 1/2 the flavors are out.

As somebody who can't have caffeine in large quantities right now, I'm spending more and more of my fast food dollars at places which give me a non-sugar, non-caffeine soft drink alternative.

- Wendy's - although you can't get Diet Sprite Zero through the drive through window, which I understand
- Taco Bell - They have fruit punch G2 for $1 from 2-5pm Mon-Fri
- Noodles and Company - they've had a freestyle machine for years.

Conversely, I used to go to McDonald's most Sunday mornings for a Sausage McMuffin and a 32oz Diet Coke for $2.15, and sit there and plan out my week. Instead, I discovered that Alter is empty at noon on Sundays, and I can sit there and have a beer instead.

Zaxbys (a Carolina chicken place) have them as well.

These machines are awesome.

These these things are great. Used them while visiting my son.

No more waiting on the kid behind the counter to refill. And I like the variety of choices. Wendy’s has this great cream soda in 3 different flavors.

Did help one lady out on how to use them but she was around 90. Anyone 60 and under shouldn’t have a problem using these.

As a guy who still likes to mix up the flavors in one cup, this machine is like a dream come true. I've only gotten to use one once.

I’m not a mixer but all those drinks I’ve passed by at the grocery store wondering how it would taste now I can. I probably held up the line my first time trying all the different drinks I always wanted to try. It was like Homer Simpson heaven.

"man of bad opinions"

These machines are awesome! They do it right at the movie complexes where they line up like 10 of these in a row. Now, I go to the bartender and get him to pour me a double/triple/quadruple bourbon, then head to one of these machines and get whatever I want as a mixer, rather than having the limitations of the bar gun.

I don't know, the freestyle machines reinforce to me how fake and chemically all that stuff is.

IIRC it's been over 7 years since I even used a soda dispenser.

anyone who gets refills at a fast food place with the size cups you get these days has a serious soft drink consumption problem. I dont have any problem using them, i have a problem with waiting around for people to choose between raspberry Sprite or vanilla Coke or Mountain Berry Powerade or one of your precious flavors of Cream Soda, or waiting for some fucking kid to play mad scientist with the different flavors.
