There is plenty of it in this thread. And last year's thread.

Respond to the post, not the poster. You can keep following me around trying to bait me, but it isn't going to work.

Have a wonderful day, Rick.

As far as little kids watching it goes, there is some language and the soap & bunny scenes are pretty terrible.

Santa and his elves are jerks. That is the complete opposite of what a heartwarming Christmas movie should be about. Other Christmas movies identify as being with family, or giving gifts, or reflecting about life, or doing something good. This movie has virtually none of that.

Frank needs safe spaces even when watching Christmas movies. SAD

I wouldn't go as far as you, but I also don't understand the never ending love that this movie gets. It has its moments. I align with Dr. Ken on this one.

The "Fragile" scene is just terrible.

It's a Christmas movie that people watch once a year. No one is saying it's as good as The Godfather.

And I am not saying it is as bad as Gigli.

Where is this never ending love for it?

It's the #1 movie in the poll this thread created by almost double.

To be fair, some of those might be "Frank is an Idiot" votes more so than "I love 'A Christmas Story'" votes.

That was very good. I remember thinking that Whit Stillman was going to have this great Hal Hartley of the Preps always working type of career but it didn't really pan out. He had something out a few years ago but I didn't see it.

Damsels in Distress was quite good. Barcelona and The Last Days of Disco were okay; Chris Eigeman is such a one-note actor that it almost would have made more sense to write the movies as a Nick Smith trilogy.

and?

It's in my top 3 so I voted for it.

It's a well liked Christmas movie that people watch once a year. To say there is "never ending love" for it doesn't make sense any more than there is undying love for the 10-20 Christmas shows/movies that I watch a year.

The thread didn't ask for a sample of well-liked Christmas movies. It asked for your favorites.

One would assume a person might love those selections as much as a man is legally allowed to love a film. By virtue of it being far and away (not a great movie worthy of love of a questionable legality) the most "favorite" that same one would assume it is the most loved.

If you give me an end-date on theorized love, I will concede. Otherwise, I will consider it the most loved and a never-ending love until such end date is presented.

I formally request that people stop loving it so Boilermaker Rick is proved correct.

No argument. I didn't like it either.

But, I felt it conveyed the sentiment in an efficient manner.

Here is the point. I voted for A Christmas Story. I don't think it's the greatest Christmas movie of all time and not remarkably better than at least 6 movies on that list.

Does that mean I have "never ending love" for it? I watch it once a year, on Christmas/Christmas Eve, and then that is it.

How about we just agree that something being one of your top three favorites doesn't mean that everyone has "never ending love" for it and move on? To me, never ending love is basically obsession like a Star Wars fan or Ogie and Barstool.

Is Boilermaker Rick asking me if we can move on from a disagreement?
