First and last time we'll have a Nats/Braves game thread. But it's opening night on ESPN. I heard Bush is gonna be in the booth at some point.

I'm curious to see how Washington's new stadium looks.

I heard them talking on the radio today that the stadium is in an area with less parking than Wrigley. That means 50,000+ will be taking the DC version of the El to the game. And since El Presidente will be there, they were already (at noon) predicting security issues that may cause half the crowd not to arrive until the third or fourth inning.

Wow. The demensions of this park look huge. I saw that the right field line is 355. The right field gap looks huge too. Haven't seen left field yet.

I turned it off when I heard the line of the night from Joe Morgan...

"Maybe those fireworks are in honor of us!"

Cue drop: No

Jon Miller really does feed Morgan's massive ego. He does it every broadcast. Here is tonights lickage.

Miller - Look at this Joe. Here is footage of you hitting a lead-off homer, in the all star game, at Yankee Stadium. Wow.

Miller - Ya know Joe, you finished 2nd in Rookie of the Year, but you made the Hall of Fame. This National guy finished in 2nd too. Bet he'll take a HOF career like you Joe.

Anything is better than RFK. That place was a dump. It had the fefel of an indoor stadium outdoors, which is the worst of both worlds. Plus, the amenities made Wrigley look downright luxurious.

Pretty good game, actually. Zimmerman's HR was a rocket.

ryan zimmerman is my current favorite baseball player, i think. the nat's have been my favorite NL team for a while, and it's cool to see them do what they did today against the shitty, shitty braves.

irish boy's right about the new park vs. rfk - rfk sucked. the new park is a lot friendlier to right handed pull hitters (see: kearns, zimmerman, milledge, dukes, even loduca might muscle out a few this year) and is laid out almost exactly like the park on the other side of town, oriole park at camden yards. i'm into the new park and hope to get a chance to visit sometime soon.

This is crazy: MLB not only opened the season Japan, but then the "unofficial" opening game was in DC last night - but both The Nats and Braves are in different cities today playing their second game? Who the hell came up that brilliant idea? Opening the season with a 1-game series? I guess I didn't realize this while I watched off/on last night. Morons....

i thought that the scroller on comcast was wrong. thats a dumb idea to play one game against the braves and then the next day start a new series.
