A week ago I mockingly used the Chiefs as an example of a team I wouldn't want the Bears to strive to be.

Oops.

Pretty excited about this hire.

Who! I said I wanted the Bears to be decisive and stand by it. I'll give it a full thumbs up.

It appears Pace found his guy and went for it.

Or they found the cheapest guy and everyone else walked out of the interview laughing.

Yep, buy low when the guy's stock is at its lowest.

I know the Jahns family and they are all really great. They are the beating heart of Jefferson Park and I'm really glad he broke this story like this.

We shall see, I don't think any candidate(Shurmur/McDaniels/DeFillip/Nagy) stood head an shoulders above someone.

The silver lining is that Pace didn't give up multiple draft picks to get him for no reason so he's learning!

I imagine that the speed of this had a lot to do with Fangio.

I wonder if Ted Phillips brokered a you-just-blew-a-certain-win-at-home discount.

Did I see ..One year of play calling experience?

There will be train wreck situations no doubt with clock management, challenges, extra points, etc.

The Bears want to lock him up before others get to meet with him.

So the Bears rush their hire to make sure they can convince Vic Fangio to stay before he becomes a free agent.

Now, did Ryan Pace inform coaching candidates they must keep Fangio as their DC? Or did Pace ask Fangio which candidates he'd be OK working under as DC?

Either way, if Fangio is going to dictate your head coaching search then just make him the head coach!

This smells of the Marinelli fiasco all over again.

Fine. That’s done. Now it’s on Pace to get him good players.

Nobody is hiring Fangio to be a head coach. I would be shocked.

This is Ted Phillips. I dont think Pace is married to Fangio, never got that impression.

Don't worry. Seacrest says it is no big deal.

I believe Vic is one of the higher paid coordinators in the league, and unless he is getting a head coaching gig his best payday might well come from the Bears.

It's pretty obvious what happened: Nagy loves Mitch so Pace's decision to draft him is positively reinforced, the $$ for Nagy won't be crazy so George/Sweaty OK'd it so bottom line is everyone is now on the Mitch bandwagon for good or for bad.

Fact: Nagy did not get the job done in this weekend's collapse. Not good. At all.

We shall see.

Can they get DePhilippo as OC???

Well neither did Kyle Shannahan in last year's Superbowl.

I'm working on a theory that the new wave of younger coaches won't have the issue of clock management and challenges like the older re-treads. I'd hope any self respecting 42 years coach spent his formative years glued to Madden through high school and college.

Bears want to keep Fangio but there is no deal in place for it. Yea, I'm starting to get Marinelli flashbacks.
