I've never heard someone who acts like they don't want the attention YET he really wants the attention like Mike North.

We also learned this morning, in the wake of the purge at Channel 2, that North personally told the boss over there years ago not to hire Mark Malone because he was a Steeler and wouldn't catch on here.

For a guy who's as smart as North and who knows so much about the broadcasting and business worlds, why does his show suck so bad? Too bad for Mikey's sake that Anne Maxfield wasn't a former Steeler. He could have steered clear of that hire and spared us all a couple of years of radio hell.

I'm thinking of Anne Maxfield as a former Steeler... Aggh!

Stuckmeyer . . . Garfein . . . Boden . . . Gail Fischer, I think, is from Rockford and the University of Illinois . . .

Well, she may not have been a "Steeler", but she was a "Stealer" because she stole a rumored $100K a year for sitting there reading a couple of minutes of some cockamamie "news" stories and occasionally disagreeing with Mike on music and the death penalty. Yeah, that's worth six figures to do what she did on morning drive in a major market.

Add Kaplan to the list of locals.

Nice call Mike, Comcast is just another place you won't get to work at. Looking forward to the swan song, the list of who to blame for his failure will be a long one, and we know it won't include him.

Oh, and just for the record, it must be noted . . . . when he said that none of the Comcast people were local, Fred agreed with him. I know that's shocking, but try to carry on . . .

Yea, Mully, Terry and Dan, taking subtle shots at him today, when Mike is chopped down to size, I wonder if he will be capable of handling it. My biggest issue continues to be one thing, he got the money and he got lazy.

Mike needs to go back to afternoons, if the score renews the guy in the morning drive, I will be stunned.

With the major cuts at CBS tv, I just can't imagine CBS radio is going to toss a bucket of money at him. They have all the control, there is really nowhere else for him to go in this town.

Alright, but! Who have you got to replace him? Murph and Fred? Mully and Hanley? What would you do? Versus... not doing anything at all?

I think I might look to bring in someone who knew and talked sports and wasn't a bigot. That shouldn't be hard to find. There are a lot on young guys out there that love sports and can have an intelligent opinion on the sports scene. Would someone please identify ONE sponsor that would leave if Nort left?

BTW, CBS isn't going to pay him much to stay.

Personally, I would like B and B in the mornings. If North is gone, I suspect the score might revamp the whole lineup, which might be a wise choice. Murph, Mully and Hanley also could be gone replace by a Matt, Jason and Paruch. I think they will keep B and B in the same time slot and I wouldnt be shocked if they put Patrick on in the morning drive.

I can't imagine B&B getting moved again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Terry pitch a fit when they were trying to move the show to it's current 2-6 timeslot? Maybe it's just wishful thinking, as I have about 20 minutes to listen to morning drive radio, and multiple hours to listen to afternoon drive. Leave Boers and Bernstein alone, dammit.

They can't put Patrick on the morning drive; it's transmitted mid-day. Unless you want to tape-delay and run yesterday's show for the drive-in.

Brian Paruch... Rongey might sound good next to him. As far as Matt & Jason, why would I want a B&B reprise act?

They won the ratings race vs. ESPN in the mornings. They are getting beaten in the afternoons. I would suspect whatever brings in the best ratings and most money for the Score overall is where they will be.

Wait, I've got it! Seeing the recent developments at Channel 2 and working this all out on my yellow pad . . . your Score morning show will be Mark Malone hosting with Dianne Burns as newsreader! Fred moves on to become a world-famous soccer announcer (After he takes a crash course in Spanish and his signature call after his partner describes a play is, "You are absolutimento correcto! I agree-o with every word-o you say-o!"), Jen goes back to waitressing at Gibson's where she can truly perform up to her talent level, and our hero, Mike Nort, webcasts from his basement with Fritzie, and is last seen peddling copies of "Caucasian Man" on street corners for loose change.

Memo to Mike Nort, Drake University is in Iowa, not Indiana like he implied this morning while commeneting that IU and Crean will win the state recruiting wars when the likes of Butler and Drake have down years.

The thing is, Terry is close enough to retirement where I don't think he would have a problem saying "F you, I'm done then" if they try to move him somewhere he doesn't want to be. I really don't think management would want to kill off their most popular show
