Understatement of the year, and thats why Im worried about Dotel. He hasnt had a great track record the past couple years. I dont think there was necessarily a better RP out there to be had, so I dont blame Kenny in going after him, I just hope he fares a bit better than what he did yesterday. If Linebrink and Dotel dont have good seasons, I dont see how this club even approaches .500

well i know it was one game but if masset and logan can pitch consistently like they did yesterday, maybe we can afford a sub par year from the two free agents. but many other things must roll our way as well

I dunno... I think our offense is 10 times better than last year, as long as Swisher, Crede, Cabrera and Thome stay healthy. That may be asking for a lot, but putting 8 runs up against Cleveland is pretty impressive in my book.

I agree. I think the White Sox is completely overlooked with all the talk of the AL powerful lineups. I love what I have seen from Swisher so far. As for Crede, I hope hes our 3B every day this season, but if hes hurt out offense might even be better, though our defense will certainly take a hit. I still think Linebrink and Dotel are gonna be the reason this team isnt better than last years team or the reason this team makes the playoffs.

Both guys have definitely slipped but we may get the last servicable vapors out of the tank. I recall Dotel being one of the more feared closers in the game when he was on ?Houston or Oakland. Linebrink was awesome for a few years in Petco as the bridge to Trevor Hoffman, but I'm not sure what the issue was exactly last year in Milwaukee, he seems to have fallen into the doghouse and never used by seasons end.

In any case it can't be worse than last year.

No shit. There is almost nowhere to go except up from last year.

And don't forget Josh Fields. If either of the corner outfielders or infielders is injured, I have a feeling he'd be the replacement. Not to mention a good option in a possible DH rotation if Thome was injured.
I've said it before, but I don't have a problem with Contreras. I'm convinced he was injured for 2-3 months last year and that's why he was so bad. I expect him to be hurt at some point this year too but hopefully they sit him down. Of course I say this before I've even seen him pitch one game, but I'm just basing it on what I saw the last 2 years from him and the differences in his pitches from those years. This team should be a solid eighty-something win team and if they get on a roll they could be more. I'm goin in expecting a 3rd place finish and hoping Detroit & Cleveland implode somehow, which I don't think is out of the question.

Fuckin Vazquez. You cant walk Kelly Shoppach to load the bases for Sizemore. Pretty bad control that inning.

Why is he still in the majors? Brutal. I'd rather see Wasserman

Our bullpen continues to be a problem. Offense couldnt keep it close this time and Vazquez couldnt hit the strike zone when it mattered. Pretty bad performance.

+1. It'd be nice to see some decent pitching for once.

Yeah, it was pretty rough to watch. Especially after Buerhle's debacle a few days ago. I'm still rather confident about the team, though.

Gamecasting so I can't see, but seems like Danks is throwing very well.

five innings of no hit baseball and six innings of shutout baseball would seem to back up that opinion

To bad Swisher and Dye blew it for him. Try calling for the ball next time, I guess that what happens when you put a LF'er in CF.

Dye has been a butcher this year. He did the same thing on the double by Garko by running in first and then going back on the ball only to have it miss his glove by inches and saving an error for himself but giving up a run.
