Do we have to wait until next year to be a "year early"?

Any of our future superstars going to play this year on the big league team?

If they do well enough this year I may become a fan again.

Well between James Shields, Miguel Gonzalez, and TBD, they have as solid a top 3 as anyone.

I know they won't be good on day one. We have to pull a Theo and pretend that our players worthy of being on a MLB roster need to work on bunting or some dumb stuff for 8 games in the minors and all the fans have to be like "Yeah, he really needs to work down there to surpass a bum on the MLB team who will be selling insurance or playing for the Marlins next year" but then as soon as they call them up they can get really excited and claim he should clearly be starting from day one and that this is the start of a new great era.

We have any of those guys?

5 of the 9 pitching prospects will be elite so you need to jump on the train now.

Of course the Sox will try to keep an extra year of control when they have the chance, but I'd say it's a little different than holding Bryant down. Everyone knew Bryant was better than anyone on the Cubs' big league roster. I'm pretty sure you can't say the same about Jimenez or Kopech at this point.

I don't know about that. Some people thought he would be lucky to have the career of Vance Law.

I think 76-86 is a fair estimate. They will play .500 ball most months but have one month of disaster due to immaturity and fatigue. I can see them being worse. I don't imaine them being better.

is there anyone left in the bullpen? could be like that year where they'd consistently have a lead around 7th and then everything goes to shit

Good is a relative term. Barring a bunch of guys on the DL, this team should win somewhere between 78-84 games.

nice one, but comeon... didn't giolito get you a little bit excited last year? he had some nice games towards the end IIRC.

personally, i wanna see what moan yoncada and eventually chips ahoy jimenez can do alongside the usual don cooper special on other people's broken prospects/pitchers. you never know when someone's gonna go fullblown esteban loaiza and go for the mexican pitching record/s, you know what i'm saying?

They'll be fine. They have a lot of good young pitching that probably wont be able to last a full season, but they'll be competitive on a game-by-game basis.

I know you were a big fan of the Mets rotation. Now they're all broken down. It's just not that easy.

They'll overachieve a bit and win between 84-87, probably faltering down the stretch.

The best part is this describes like the last decade of White Sox teams.

I would gather around 73 to 78 wins. I certainly bought the over this year.

That's not suck... its mediocrity.

They could be a team that has a bad first half, but then becomes an improving 2nd half team if some of these prospects begin showing development and new talent is added through the year. Would probably guess 75 wins max since the rotation has a combination of washed up veterans and younger pitching. That usually will result in ups/downs and lots of losing.

If they do show improvement in the 2nd half and have seen enough positive improvement from several of these younger players, they will be a significant player in free agency next off-season with a low payroll and tons of spending money to add 2-3 significant free agents.

I think that in that division, 68 wins is way too low since they should go 12-6 against Detroit and 10-8 against KC. If Giolito and Lopez show progress, 77-78 is reasonable.
