Just finished "Strange Weather" by Joe Hill and while I enjoyed two of the four novellas, it's time to take a step away from horror and try something else.

I'm thinking of dabbling in Sci-Fi for a bit. Anyone have recommendations for someone who has limited exposure to the genre? Altered Carbon caught my eye due to the NetFlix release...

Wool by Hugh Howey. Not really Sci-Fi in the traditional sense, but it's a post apocalyptic Dystopian novel. Very good.

I haven't read it, but The Expanse by James A. Corey (who is actually two people neither named James) is supposed to be great as well.

I happened to pick this book up today and leafed through it. Would highly recommend it.

"How Democracies Die" by Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt. Very thought provoking book by a couple of Harvard Professors about how democracies are usurped by fiendish means. Trump is analyzed as a main example of an unscrupulous demagogue. It reads like the Protocols of the Elders of Zion applied to American politics, with Trump as the culprit.
