Should be a few days of better than average shows today through Friday.

Maybe Harry and his daughter will get the private tour of the MSI he was begging for on the air yesterday.

I think the show flows better when it doesn't get bogged down with his schitck (whether it's schtick or his actual thoughts, I don't know) and the resulting time spent by Mac and Jurko dismissing his opinions.

IMO, these shows will be an easier listen.

Driving home, it dawned on me as to why he takes Lucie to all the games with him. Harry puts his flask of tequila in her jacket, figuring security won't search her, but will pat him down like crazy

Dude, that's been my trick for years, cramming a 12 pack in a diaper bag.
It's genious, the only time I was almost caught was at the Lisle 4th of July fest a couple years back. My oblivious wife was going to take the bullett on that one, but she somehow managed to talk her way out of it.

ill chime in here.

I feel that the shows are better with Carmen. I really have nothing positive to say about Harry whatsoever (which is a dead horse I continually beat on this board). Im sure he is a nice guy and has parents that love him, but he's

1. not funny

2. not engaging

3. a Chicago windsock and washed-up comic with friends in Chicago media that have allowed him to be a staple on Chicago and national (the famed Mike and Mike bits) media.

4. not talented.

Carmen gives the show more of an appeal to younger guys (the twenty somethings out there).

I often wonder if Harry's schtick is an act. Is it a plan for him to be an obnoxious punching bag to Jurk and Mac? If it is not contrived, he really sucks. If it is an act, you have to say that it is working (just look at the numbers). I realize that the odds of management messing with what is working are quite long, but as the Beach Boys told us: wouldn't it be nice

The last few days have been good and made me realize that Harry doesn't entertain me as much as he used to. The show does sound "fresher". I'm thinking some of the shows blahness for the last year or so is related to Mac and Jurko being tired of Harry too.

I'm thinking that it has to do with all three of them being blah. He deserves the credit and blame equally. It is almost like everyone hating Murph but the ratings don't say the same.

You could tell Harry was't there when if anybody listened to Mark Derosa interview today, Jurko talked about Monday's game when Aramis didn't even move to pop fly at the dugout and Jurko asked if DeRosa would say anything to him, DeRosa didn't really have an answer, started backtracking. If Harry was there, he would have ripped Jurko for the rest of the show for asking a decent question, Harry would say we are having a fun interview and you make it less fun. A perfect exapmle, would be last year when I think it was Ryan Theriot on the show and it was after the Cardinal's pitcher had died, Jurko asked about drinking and Harry basically ripped Jurk the rest of the show for it.

My thought about interviews, they are a really a big waste of time, but if you have, you should get to ask decent questions and if needed tough questions.

The show's still not perfect, from the little I've heard this week. But it sounds a whole hell of a lot better than it did the week before.

Jurko is hit and miss with me, but not always bad. Mac has some better days than others, but when he's motivated and on his game he's among the best in Chicago. And Harry has had the decency to be gone a handful of weeks each year.

Mac can say all he wants about his "ribbings" of Harry being in jest, and about how you don't fix what ain't broken. But those ribbings sound all-to-personal to me, and has any successful sports franchise (an easy analogy) ever stood still year after year with obvious dead weight on board just because they were still successful?

Naw. If any of the three is missing the show suffers.
A permanent change for the sake of change would be stupid.
I like Jurko the least of them but, again, when one of them's gone, including him, the quality and entertainment drops.

Harry is a nice guy, who loves Chicago teams. But he is so loyal to guys he has gotten to know and like, that it blinds him when it comes to objective assesments of teams/players. Plus, if you have listened to the show for a few years, you have heard many of the same jokes over and over. But I still find him entertaining and the guys ribbing him about his predictions/jokes/clothing choices-makes for some funny comments, just as Harry's ribbing Jurko about his diction and inability to read ad copy or Emails, can be funny. You notice that Jurko and Harry both take a ribbing at times, but Mac rarely does. Then again, Jurko and Harry deserve it a lot more often.
