The Royals claim they offered much less.

Dickerson fell off a cliff the second half of last year, but the dfa still makes no sense. KC should trade for him and hand him a 1B glove.

I thought DFA meant sent down to AAA and the player could say no and be a free agent?

I haven't seen any numbers but I'm assuming $200M

Not even close - $144M

- $5M signing bonus
- 5/125
- player option for 3/39

That's a bargain. Other teams had to have offered peanuts.

Dfa means that they are off the 40 man and have 10 days to trade a player or put them on waivers. If they clear waivers, if they have enough service time they can opt to be a free agent, if not the team can send them to the minors or cut them loose.

I dont understand why Hosmer would go to the Padres. Surely there would be a team close to the playoffs that would give him a decent deal.

I am glad they didnt, but I thought he would be a good fit for the Cardinals and really help solidify their lineup.

Padres are stacked in the minors. They will be a playoff team multiple times during those 8 years and until that time, there are worse places to live than San Diego.

Yeah. I feel so sorry for him that he has to make ends meet on $22 million a year.

#Yankees get the infield help they've wanted. #DBacks get a fallback OF option after missing out on JD Martinez. #Rays add to their farm system. Read about tonight's three-team trade:

Jake to Phils?

Works for me. Don't want to see him on Cards or Brewers. If he goes to Philly, look for a spike in his HR allowed pitching in the band box...

That's a good place for him to end up. Somebody will take him in late August as a bench bat for a playoff run.

The Twins got Logan Morrison for close to free. What a fucked up off season.

There's a report that the Twins only offered Lance Lynn 2yr/$20M. I find that impossible to believe. Sure he missed the entire 2016 season with TJ but he came back last year to post a 3.43 ERA in 186.1 IP. The previous 2 years he went 3.03 in 175.1 and 2.74 in 203.2 and he's only 31 years old. Something is up if a team that wants to win won't step up and make a stronger offer than that.

Well Boras is his agent so I'm not really surprised. He's going to end up on a 1 year deal if this goes on past Opening Day.

27.5 a year. That’s insane to turn down. I have a hard time believing that but the Boras angle.. yikes.

And with another year's wear and tear, he'll be looking for another one year deal in 2019 on stunningly bad advice.

Yeah.. a one year deal would have to be stupid money to make sense. I get wanting the long term deal but 3 at 27 (again, hard to believe that’s true) is pretty darn good.

He knows he isn't going to be worth shit in three years. He should have taken 4/100 from the Cubs a long time ago.

He’ll be lucky to get what Darvish did . Monumentally stupid if he turned down that Phillies offer.

Max out at two years 22.7? That’s.... low. One year, not bad for Moose.

But yeah, when was the last tine the players played chicken and lost like this?

There is no doubt a bunch of teams could beat that deal. Moose looks like he just wanted to go back to KC.
