He's been on record for hating Rocky. He thought Apollo and Clubber Lang were the superior athletes. He didn't like the dumb Italian winning. Goff didn't like Karate Kid. That wasn't a black vs. white thing. Because Danielson beat another white. Still, he didn't like the story because it was about a white overcoming the odds.

Today he said Hoosiers was a horrible movie. Obviously he didn't like the hick team from Indiana beating an "all black" team in the title game. He did one of those "Goff things" where he insinuated that it was a racist movie. Shep jumped in and asked him why he hated it and Goff backed off.

I don't mind Goff hating these movies. But like Goff always says to his white racist callers, just be honest. He wants his callers to tell him they hate black people. I want Goff to simply say he hates white people. It's cool. It's not cool to dance around it and hint at it without saying it.

Rocky loses to Apollo Creed.

But nice of Jason to steal an Eddie Murphy bit instead of a Dave Chappelle bit, I appreciate a deep cut like "White Guys Like Rocky Too Much."

But Rocky beat him the 2nd time.

And yes, Goff does steal from those black comedians passing it as his original thought. He also steals from Samuel L. Jackson and Arnold from Different Strokes as far as his cadence.

I know Goff hates them because they are white. But both Rocky and Danielson were poor. It's not like they were "Dan Bernstein types" born with a silver spoon that beat a black guy as an underdog. I would understand Goff hating that movie. I would hate that movie. Every white would hate that movie.

Bernstein: Yo Beth, I did it!!!!!

Bernstein wouldn't say that line that way. Because it's not good grammar. He would convince the director that he must say it this way.

Bernstein: My dearest Beth, I accomplished my goal. Can you believe I beat this black guy? Make sure you double lock the door. We don't live in a good neighborhood. But with the money from this fight, I'll get us out.

Dago x 2. You go, Goff!

It's fashionable (or was a few years ago) to claim that Hoosiers is either racist or a racist fantasy about an all-white society.

There was no racism in the movie. Black people weren't in it. But it was about a hick Indiana town in the 1950s. They're just telling the story of an all white farming town. It was loosely based on a true story from what I understand.

It was, and there are a few pretty interesting books on the real team (from Milan). Talk about a different time....

When I was a kid, it was only on during weekdays at like noon....so the only time I ever saw it was when I was sick. I was riveted, though, especially to the two-parter episode "Just in Case."

What were the other shows they featured? Commander McBragg? The smart dog and the kid with the big head?

EDIT: And the one with the culturally sensitive portrait of the Indians? "Him say...."

You hit all the marks. Especially the noon part. I wished I could go home for lunch just for that.

Simpler times

I think Goff should be forced to spend a weekend in Hebron. There are plenty of bars and good ol boys for him to talk old white basketball with.

Commander McBragg was my favorite.

Pretty sure I pulled a drop from that for one of the podcasts.

Quite.

Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog, It's just little old me ... I posted a picture of Go Go Gophers last week. I liked Klondike Kat too. Never really a fan of Tennessee Tuxedo and would get mad when it would interrupt the show.

You can remember the name of an individual episode of Underdog but you can't pull Mr. Peabody & Sherman?

Golly gee, Spauldy.

I hated Chumley.

I think something else, but I could be wrong. The early 70s are becoming a fuzzy blur.

Found it. I was thinking of The King and Odie from Dudley Do Right. McBragg was on that show too.

I remember being in preschool, so.. the 70’s, and usually bring home in time for under dog and being crushed when my mom didn’t get me home in time to see it.

I remember Chumley saying "Golly gee, Tennessee" on frequent occasions.

But, I'm old and prone to misremembering.

Spaulding, you're the greatest!!

I hated Tennessee because it was the voice from get smart which would come on and end the cartoons. Get Smart was stupid.
