Bears get:
Jarvis Landry
Dolphins 1st (11 overall)
Dolphins 3rd

Dolphins get:
Jordan Howard
Bears 1st (9 overall)
---
That's the rumor. I'd consider it but the Dolphins would either need to bump that up to a 2nd or give up on the 1st rounder swap. Howard is a lot better than Jarvis Landry.

Why the hell would you give up Howard to go get a top dollar WR that you are going to have to sign. Just sign someone.

I don't hate it, but I wish they'd give Howard an off season to learn how to catch. Landry is not a true #1 wr

Edit bears pick is #8 and for some reason that feels a lot worse than than the deal if it were pick 9.

No top wr will be available via free agency

It makes some sense if they think they can sign Le'Veon Bell, but then they'd about have blown their cap locking up both Landry and Bell. They'll still be able to sign Wilson and Fulton, but say goodbye to grabbing an impact OL or DB on top of their haul. Bell is going to cost twice as much as Robinson alone in guaranteed $$$.

Watkins will definitely be available and Allen Robinson still hasn't been tagged. Watkins is a TOP TOP guy, but he's young and the ability is definitely there. Robinson is a stud, him + Wilson + a healthy Meredith would be enough help in the WR corps to make (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky's life a lot easier.

Why the hell didn't they just pay Jeffery last year? Then you don't have to trade Howard and drop 3 spots this year.

Pace is decent in the draft. But a dumb ass with trades and free agents.

Grabbing a 3rd is not inconsequential, I'm not sure its quite a wash with dropping 3 spots in the first but its not terrible.

The issue is Nagy not finding a use for Howard. The guy is an immensely talented runner and if they really dont think they can use him that's their problem and not Howard's. There are really not many backs in the NFL who can run like Howard, and anyone the Bears would replace him with (other than a pick in the first three rounds, WHICH THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO USE ON ANOTHER RUNNINGBACK) would be years older with much more wear and tear. And more expensive.

And Landry isn't a #1 WR, they would still need to find a go-to guy.

Ian Rappaport says this is a horseshit rumor.

Jeffrey couldn’t stay on the field...whether he was milking it to force a move, who knows.

From Rappaport:

Ian Rapoport
Hear this wasn’t even discussed.

@RapSheet
Worth noting: There is zero desire by the #Bears to trade RB Jordan Howard, sources say. Doesn’t sound like there will be any splashy Jarvis Landry for Howard deal.

Jarvis Landry is one of the more overrated players in the NFL. He's basically Cole Beasley

That’s a really bad take but Howard is definitely more valuable and that trade would have been bad.

Not really. He's a slot receiver and that's it.

yea but he's about as good a slot receiver there is in football. I dont know how valuable it would be to sign Wilson from KC and trade for Landry, though.

He is nothing like Beasley. Landry can and has caught 100 passes in a season.

He’s a slot receiver but a damn good one. Stop being dumb.

if Wilson is the only WR they add to the roster this offseason things are dire.

Yeah, and you don't play a slot receiver 15 million a year. Watch the games.

I watched PLENTY of Dolphins games last year and here how the script would go.

Miami's offense wouldn't do shit for 3 quarters.
They eventually would fall behind.
Defense would back off into a zone.
Landry gets his meaningless catchers under the soft zone coverage.

FavreFan loves to scout the stat line.

Yeah. This trade makes no sense. Landry is decent. Not great. If you simply got him as a free agent that's one thing.

To give up shit for him is insane. You're not winning the Super Bowl in the next two years with or without him. At year 3 of his deal, he's out of his prime.

I heard Adam Abracadabra and Chris Blech talking about this rumor this morning. They attributed it to John "Moon" Mullin.

If the Bears are looking to move Howard, who can't catch and is therefore not a good fit for Nagy's west coast style offense, does that mean they are interested in Saquon Barkley, who can both run and catch?

They might be interested but he will be gone before their pick.

I was thinking they might trade up.
