Got my Titan up to 291 power, pinging 292, and just got a MIDA Multi Tool that is 305 power after completing the exotic quest.

Of you're having trouble breaking through the 260-275 No man's land, might I suggest creating a second character (of different class) And getting them to ~270-280 before finishing the story, you should blast right through that barrier.
