I think the fact that Theo/Jed wanted nothing to do with him, especially after firing Bosio... I think that spooked the market.

I'm surprised that the Yankees didn't offer him a deal that was very low in 2018 but with massive two-year vesting incentives to kick in for 2019 and 2020. Something like 8/35/32/30 - 4/115.
