 The spin is funny. When some goof "takes less" to sign with the Cubs the narrative is always that everyone wants to play for the GREAT ORGANIZATION. Here's a guy who refused to sign with the Cubs. Maybe because the ORGANIZATIOn isn't as GREAT as you like to think it is.

The Cubs offered $17.4M for one season. How did he take less to sign with the Phillies?

 There appears to be disagreement between Cub fans. Looks like the "dynasty" is unraveling.

As a Cub fan, who fucking cares? He’s on the Phillies.

I was speaking to the long term deal the Cubs tried to get done prior to this offseason...they pivoted to the 1 year deal this year. Try and keep up, Cowboy Joe.

Jake turned down a 4yr deal worth over $100mil from the Cubs, right?

So he in fact did take less money per year to play for the Phillies.

Edit; Yup.

He did not. That was debunked months ago. Dave Kaplan has not had sources in the Cubs front office since the Hendry regime. Prominent national baseball writers confirm Jake Arrieta was never offered any contract this offseason, besides the qualifying offer.

JORR is just trolling. He knows Jake fucked up and should have taken one of the 4 or 5 year deals that were out there for him.

If the Cubs had known he would take 3 x $25, they would have signed him over Darvish...and probably paid a little more to keep the years down.

Jake overplayed his hand.

I didn't say the Cubs offered it to him this offseason.
