Bernstein better be looking at himself in the mirror, too.

He's running out of excuses for his shit ratings. At first he blamed the instability of the mid-morning show. Then the absence of Terry for medical reasons and ensuing partner carousel.

It's time he take a step back and realize he can't just step into the studio unprepared and bitch about people on Twitter said for 5 hours. I'm confident he'll adapt. Dude is a cockroach. He can survive anything if he's made it this far with all the realignments and issues at 670.

Any chance the Mully and Hanley get changed out too? That show has gotten so tired...

Bernstein needs somebody that can dish the shit right back at him.

Eh let's not absolve Jason of any blame. He took on the worst characteristics of Bernstein and somehow increased them to become even more insufferable.

Yeah the Goff love perplexes me . Name one thing he does well on radio that takes you in as a listener .

What a fall for the "Last Call" duo. I really enjoyed Drinky's and Goff's product when they were learning to be hosts. But rather than fine-tuning their unique voices, they swerved to try and emulate master. You would've thought after all those years working with Bernstein they'd learn he doesn't give a shit about you.

This.

to quote the old meme: He. Told. You. What. He. Was Going. To. Do.

Bernstein has been very clear that he doesn't view it as his concern to help anyone else in the industry.

drinky and Goff were well positioned to be "The Voice of the Fan". Instead, they chose the Bernstein character, which simply doesn't work for two uneducated guys.

The other thing that is telling is the power that Terry held. Even in his sickness they would not whack Drinky and Goff until he was gone.

This had to come as a surprise to Goff. As recently as last week he was his usual cocky self taking a shot at Mac with one of his "Dan Ma Na" or whatever.

Nothing in probably 5 or 6 years.

When he was the third voice on B&B he felt fresh and like a part of that "voice of the fan" dolphin mentioned.

Then he decided to follow the pied piper Bernsie straight to the gates of Hell.

If it is Mac & Bernstein that's an implosion waiting to happen. I can see Mac agreeing to do it just to get back "in" but I don't see it lasting very long.

It seems like most liked Goff as a producer but not as a host.

The two roles have very different dynamics, especially given his age at the time. He was the young, funny, "with it" producer who was the antithesis of the B&B show's general outlook.

Moving into a full-time role bears more responsibility. You can no longer just be the contrarian or the jokester. You have to have actual content and radio skills. I have no personal animosity toward Goff, but I can't tell you a single thing he's good at. He's......... personable? Not really anymore.

I think Terry had clout, not sure it kept them here. I think Matty tried a power play, and quit because he didn't get what he wanted. Jason, was tried in multiple spots and failed.

Getting rid of Goff and keeping Bernstein makes zero sense.

You can blame Goff for all the ratings issues, but all the problems of the show and weak ratings should be left at the feet of Bernstein.

I know you aren't a listener but I don't think that is really true. What doomed the show was that they built a show they wanted to listen to and didn't care about what the listeners wanted. A local sports radio show in any market cannot talk national sports as a cornerstone of the show. It just doesn't work. If the NFL is really in the thick of it you can kind of get away with it but even they you aren't getting hot takes about the Houston Texans on nearly a daily basis. Then, they doubled down by spending far too much time on "social issues" which is fine for a segment or two a week but you just can't be beat over the head with it day after day and be someone that comes back the next day excited to listen. Then, to make it even worse, you get rid of the weekly segments that defined the show for over a decade, even when they were bad, and replace it with a radio version of the TV Guide.

There was a good show there. They just badly mismanaged it and not having a producer worked because of the talent of Boers and Bernstein. Trying that a second time was a dumb decision. Hopefully Bernstein learned that lesson and we'll see a better show wherever he is.

When is his contract up? Might be too much to eat for the the station right now.

I bet Danny Mac parks that F150 right in front of the studios, in a handicap spot, with balls dangling from the back of his truck.

No. The show failed because of poor planning.

Is cancelling Friday Fung and WYC a characteristic? Is talking national NBA all the time, which was a lot less often with Boers a characteristic?

Despite all that, there is no bigger weight around the neck of the station right now than Cub radio rights.

Don’t know if this has already been asked here but if Goff is out does he get a chance like this again in Chicago sports radio? My guess is no and he won’t be on the airwaves anytime soon.

The parallels to North and Bernstein's career arcs are uncanny.

Goff is half of the show! He bears no responsibility for the planning?
