That's a good analogy. You're trying to bring people into your camp, and instead you are turning them away. Even with the old Penn State stuff, they (B&B back then) just took it too far with attacking folks who attended Penn State. Of course college alums are irrational with their over the top love of their team, but they leveled non-stop insults at the fan base.

The thing that guys like McClure miss is that they're a niche audience. Most sports fans do just want the scores and to talk about who should start for the Bears. The fans that want to think of themselves as "smarter" than everyone else is a limited group. Though you might not know it by reading this board.

I think Jason also got Fels and McClure their share of on-air appearances to reassure Dan and Jason as experts that the Blackhawks are evil.

I believe Matt and I are the same age or close to it but I'm probably closer to you on this than I am to him. While I don't give a shit about the scores I enjoy good sports debates. I don't want to get my political talk from sports shows. I think the younger demo may want it all though.

Yeah, and I don't mind political talk, even if it's silly like Michael Savage or Limbaugh. I just don't want to hear it from bernstein when I tune in to find out what Eloy Jimenez did. I didn't want it from North either and those politics were very different.

I think you may be right about the younger listeners though.

Yeah, most people my age and younger don't give a shit about AM radio. (That's not to say there's a passion for FM radio, but at least that body has a pulse.) Doing Deadspin On The Air for 55-year-olds never made sense.

The daily dose of "racism is bad", extended national NBA talk, Bernsie and the yes man, teaching moments, not fun radio, has taken its toll.

The show was an absolute chore to listen to more often than not.

I don't mind if Goff gets a show, but it's gotta be a niche show. Evenings or something. Maybe he and Lawrence can do a college/NBA show.
