They should look to trade Shaheen who doesn't fit Nagy's scheme at all.

They have holes to fill yeah, but this doesn't reflect well on Shaheen.

Or Pace. This is just another guy imo.

how could the guy named mini gronk not fit anyone's scheme?

i am interested in the guarenteed $$$, but the years/deal sound like a overpay 4 yr $32mil... is this a new ryan pace tradition overpay for free agent TE's every year? Burton has shown flashes... but was still basically the 3rd TE in philly behind ertz and celek... this may be another mike glennon bidding agaisnt yourself

He's a big guy that can catch. He should fit any TE friendly scheme.

Then why did they throw big money at Burton? Both these TE's aren't going to be lighting it up. Someone has to be batman.

Shaheen isn't a strong blocker...Burton is. This gives the flexibility to use him as the slot guy in a 2 TE set.

There is no proof that the oaf can actually play football. Or really wants to.

Nothing wrong with having two TE. Good signing, keep it up.

He was a great red zone target that Dowell and Fox refused to use.

A quarter of his receptions were touchdowns and I believe they were all red zone targets.

I'm going too far afield here, probably because I can't stand Shaheen.

But I hope Burton does well.

This is the type of overpay that a contending team can get away with. The Bears aren't a contending team.

Because Shaheen isn't a big money guy while on his rookie contract.

Do you watch the NFL CB? It's a copy cat league and MANY want to be like the Patriots and trot out two TE's.

The Patriots two TE thing died when Aaron Hernandez did.

Don't the Patriots use two TEs who don't suck though? That may be the flaw in Pace's plan???

One does suck while the other does not.

You remember the sucky one last year? It was the guy the Packers signed in FA first.

The "Two-Alpha Male" TE was a brief showing by the Patriots with Gronk and Hernandez. Nobody has really duplicated it since...You have one "alpha male" TE that can stretch the seem and the others are just fodder/blockers. If Nagy had taken over a year ago at this time, no way they draft Shaneen......Shaheen was drafted to mold the Saints offense ..I think Pace thought that Shaun Payton would get canned in 2017 and he would be bringing him over.

Burton is a 230 lb Hybrid TE. He’s not a blocking TE, just an oversized WR.

There is no doubt he was not bidding against himself. Interest in Burton was VERY high.

I'd compare it more to a Markus Wheaton

Burton is definitely not a blocking tight end, although I think he can do that. He is on the smallish side, ran a fast 4.62 at the Combine, and played FB, TE, WR and QB in college. Hopefully we got someone ascending.
