Mentioned in another thread, but worth its own.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/br ... story.html

Quote:
Dan McNeil is returning to WSCR-AM 670, teamed on weekday afternoons with Danny Parkins, as part of a shake-up that has Dan Bernstein moving to middays, sources said.

Station management, silent Tuesday, earlier denied changes were in the works at the Entercom Communications station. But Matt Spiegel, who was McNeil’s broadcast partner when McNeil left the station in 2014 after failing to agree on a new contract, appears to be out after 15 months with Parkins on the 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekday shift.

I actually didn't mind him, he was better than Goff or Bernstein and worked well with Parkins, but he was left without a seat if the Mac-Parkins duo was to happen. Let's be honest, that is better radio anyways

Nas called all of this.

Starting a hot streak going into March Madness.

Hopefully this doesn't impact future Spiegels third divorce & fourth marriage

I liked the show. It's unfortunate Mac stumbled back in and took out his friend.

I am sad to see Spiegel go simply because he was a nice guy who didn't disparage listeners. he genuinely cared about his job and I'm glad he signed his new contract so at least he'll get paid some before landing somewhere else.

To be fair, is there a Spiegel at 670 in the 1st place without Mac? He brought him in there.

For all his warts I enjoyed Spiegel. He truly has a passion for sports and talking about sports. No one at the station comes close. He never should've quit Hit 'n Run.

Will Mike North come out of retirement to team with Bernstein?

Now he has more time to teach interns the value of getting him his lunch.

It's a mistake sacking Spiegel especially for a guy that you can't trust to stick around long term. I like Mac but I'd prefer they keep Parkins and Spiegel together.

I like Matt a lot. He could be a condescending douchebag, but he seemed to genuinely like the listeners.

The upside to Parkins and Mac is tremendous. Two gambling degenerates..Parkins is basically a Baby Mac.

Parkins said multiple times right before the 1yr anniversary and after, he didn't know how long this would last. Something tells me, they might of asked him how he would feel with Mac as his partner.

In many respects, I think that is true. They both seem to have addictive personalities.

Not sure how close they are anymore. Spiegal wasn't very supportive when Mac had his troubles.

I think it would be kind of cool if Speigs could go over to one of the CBS rock stations. Do they own XRT?
