- Mac was plotting this for months. He was wining and dining Mitch and Mitch's boss all along.

- Goff, on twitter, said it blind sided him. I believe that. I think he got the news on Monday morning. Because he was his same cocky ass until then and didn't break bad on the SCORE last week. The Score wanted to do it this way because they didn't want Goff on the air knowing he was gone. That would have been dangerous to the execs. Goff would have gone nuts. They avoided that.

- Bernstein was a part of this. In some way. To save his ass mostly. Though he'll always do the "I just work here" act. But we all know that's bullshit.

- Spiegel's death was a combo of Bernstein and Mac working together to make sure they were survivors.

- Goff is now realizing that Bernstein was in on this. Because I just told him so. I mean he literally realized it by reading what I just wrote. So now Bernstein is Goff's enemy. Which Bernstein always should have been.

What do you guys got? How did this go down?

Mac clearly got the last laugh. Not sure if he'll ever acknowledge that or that Goff had an issue with him.

If it wasn't for ratings, why did Goff get fired? I saw the 1st page of the other thread where Goff tweeted the show's demos were actually, in fact, on target. Is it possible that the show was doing well enough to maintain, but personalities and/or the opportunity to bring Mac back was the deciding factor?

I thought Spiegal got a bad a deal. He had a number of partners over the last few years, and I thought him and Parkins was a pretty good show.

Goff's penchant for turning everything into a social justice issue, for talking down to listeners, etc. was a difficult listen. His interview style was awful - just rambling, asking/answering his own questions and taking 30+ seconds plus to ask a pretty routine question was also pretty rough.

It's pretty bad, for the current talent, that Mac, is continued to get chance after chance and nobody has stepped up, outside of Parkins. Probably says a lot that Mac can not show up, create enemies/drama, and be bored with most sports, yet still be more entertaining that most of these other hosts, who think that bringing politics and their social leanings into every show is a better listen.

Wasn't a big Boers fan, particularly in the last 2-3 years when he was a puppet to Bernstein, but what a fall/end to that era. The afternoon show didn't last long without him. Not sure what Conner McKnight is going to bring to this show other than another puppet though, definitely not sure what the fascination is there.

Bernstein got afternoons in '08, the start of The Obama Era, and it just took him an extra year to follow BHO out.

Never saw the appeal of Dan Bernstein. I never thought that he belonged in this city. He should have found his fortune out West about 5 years ago like his sister or whatever in LA. Why live somewhere where you hate the people? Who fucking does that?

Great stuff, as always.

I like everything you do except when you start a fucking headline on a subject that I already have.

Besides that, kudos to you!

Boers and Bernstein had afternoons well before '08. The schedule when I joined was Stocks and Jocks 5-6, North 6-10, M&H 10-noon, Murph noon-2, B&B 2-6, and Hawks/DePaul/fill-ins 6-10, then Sporting News 10-5.

Correct, but '08 was when he Valmorphanized into F.O.T.S.

Mac would have stayed at The Score and the station would have been far better for it, had they just given Mac afternoons when he wanted it years ago. Instead, they took Bernstein's side and let him run the station into the ground. Now it will be up to Mac to bring the station back to relevance, as he did so many years ago in the station's inception. Perhaps firing Bernstein will be the next step in bringing the station back. In any case, having Mac back gives radio listeners a reason to tune into the Score, besides Cubs games and Mulley and Hanley, who should be given the slot Bernstein is in now, after his demotion, with Bernstein doing early mornings (until he is fired) . That would be better.

I bet if they gave him afternoons with Terry, it would of rejuvenated both of them.

Bernstein was trying to ease toward retirement/whatever he's going to do when the Score doesn't want to pay him anymore by letting Goff drive the show, similar to how Terry let Bernstein drive the show in the last few years of their partnership. Now Dan's not going to be able to do that paired with a lightweight like McDoink. Hopefully he becomes the fun smartass he once was, but it's more likely he bludgeons the listener with VERY. SERIOUS. RADIO. every day.

Bernstein is going to have to have the producers manning a special "SJW DUMP BUTTON" 24/7 if he wants to stay employed.

The more I think about it, I think Bernstein fired Goff

I think Bernstein was told that Parkins and Mac would be getting afternoons. I think they asked him if he'd like to continue with Goff in middays. And he said no. They allowed him to pick his new partner. And he wanted McNight.

So yeah, Bernstein fired Goff!!!!!!! And he fired Spiegel as well because he could have chose him.

That son of a bitch!!!!

Something doesn't seem right in how this went down.

I think both Spiegel and Goff weren't handled well. I think they got ambushed. They both deserved better. And it seems like this was put together very quickly.

They should have thought it out better and gave Bernstein a better partner.

Better yet, they should have let him go solo. See how that went. Then do interviews for a potential partner if they thought he needed one. Like I said a couple days ago, I think Bernstein is pretty good solo.
