The show was asked, multiple times via text, why there was a change in the show lineup on 670 the Score. Parkins asked the question and Mac stated he'd answer.

Mac's answer was that there was a newly hired Market Director that didn't like the way the station sounded...Mac was told his shows were fun and that is what the director wanted. He didn't like the airing of grievances and social issues being talked about all the time.

And then Parkins gave his nephew at a Hinsdale grammar school a shoutout for walking out of class today to protest gun violence and said he's not going to shy away from talking about issues that matter to him.

That seems contradictory to the what Mac said about the supposedly new direction of the station. Unless Parkins is going to keep it to a minimum, but I don't think his ego will allow him to do that.

The difference is, Parkins spent 90 seconds (if that) on it and then moved right on. With B&G it would be 2 hours of the show

And they would take calls from dopes that have ridiculous opinions like "schools that are endorsing kids walking out today are setting a precedent that they can walk out on school any time" and then they get to state their positions which 97% of people agree with and everyone else gets bored and doesn't listen anymore.

It is important to acknowledge social issues that have an impact on everyone's lives, but it is equally important to realize that this is a sports station, not Rush Limbaugh's radio network. I'd be interested to hear briefly about how any of the Score hosts feel about these sorts of things, but I just need to hear a little bit of it, and then let's go back to the Cactus League or NFL Draft talk.

The telling thing is Bernsie today did not have a story of his awesome kids walking out.

I am a Mac fan, I know he has his faults, but he is fun SPORTS radio.
I loved how Bernsie tried to suck up to him at the beginning of transition and Danny Mac did not take the bait. This will probably be Danny Macs last run in radio and no way is he gonna let Bernstein dictate anything.

For those who missed it, Dan said he has no problems with Danny Mac, everything the past, will have no future problems, etc.(again paraphrasing), expecting Dan to say the same, but Mac said they will have issues in transitions.

Where Bernstein was right is when he said, well it will make for good radio and it does.

a couple of things-
clearly, as stated above, this move is at least an attempt to counterbalance Bernstein and SJW stuff. McNeil mentioned SJW specifically. Also, Parkins stated that he's going to bring that kind of stuff up when it's important, unless he's told otherwise, to which McNeil responded, "you will".

I loved that Mac poked fun at Bernstein after Beerstain said he wanted the show to be granular or something like that. It was just great that he didn't let that kind of stupid garbage go unchecked.
