That is what i sort of remember. When i first began following this site Beardown used to post a lot of racial shit. Then it seemed like he calmed down some and then it returned once Goff got the slot.

It's more fun watching ltg.

I'm hoping we get 20 more pages now that the concept of popularity has been introduced. Baseball's obviously number 1 due to total aggregate attendance for regular season games.

Nobody has really denied that.

The NFL is the most popular league in the country, even though you haven't said these exact words. Being that it is the most popular, it is going to draw interest in March, April, August, November, or any other month. 99% of the time in Chicago, NFL talk is going to be more popular than NBA regular season talk regardless of what time of year it is.

No it isn't. Completely ignoring it (as McNeil does) isn't the best way to grow your audience.

We had a dude (Beardown) create racially tinged threads about Goff daily and MANY were loathe to call him on the shit.

This isn't about me suggesting that any or everyone is racist either. What i am suggesting is that racial talk is tolerated in certain quarters on here. It is only troublesome when the minorities bring the shit up. When that happens its oh they are playing the race card.

When whites do it oh he's just being a "boob" or an "idiot".

YES IT FUCKING IS.

You don't have to because i doubt if any of them will step forward to admit that their dislike of the NBA is at least partially due to race.

THAT IS CALLING PEOPLE RACIST.

Can you point to a time when you personally condemned Beardown for his racially tinged Goff talk? This isn't about me calling you racist either. Its moreso about me gauging your level of tolerance as a guy who " fucking knew it". Did you also know it in Beardown's case too?

No, you don't get to try to deflect this. You drew a line in the sand: Posters on this board dislike the NBA in part because of the racial demographic of its players.

That is calling "posters on this board" racist. It is an unequivocal, undeniable label of racism that you tried to pin on posters here. Admit or retract it, those are your only two options.

So you are basically saying that no one that has ever posted here is racist?

Were Beardown's posts regarding Goff racially tinged?

Stop trying to weasel your way out of this. Either admit that you are calling MANY posters here racist, or retract your claim of racism.

McNeil has admitted he's not huge fan of basketball. At least he's being honest with the audience rather than cramming it down our throats with a political bent. It's what audiences like about him vs. Goff. Goff was a meatball fan. Until he became a host and became better than that.

No, football is because people watch it on their couch when American Idol isn't on.

Cricket is more popular than football in the world. Yet, have we heard the Score discuss the ball-scuffing scandal by the Australian national team?? Hmmmmmm, interesting.

If there was a demand for national NBA talk on AM radio in Chicago, it would be talked about more. There isn't. So it's not.

The Bulls are irrelevant and that hurts interest. Until this year the Hawks were yearly contenders so that became the team people wanted coverage of.

Bernstein has tried to do national NBA talk with 2 different partners.

I disagree. When the Bulls were great guys still didn't talk a lot of hoops besides Mully and Hanley and B&B.

Derrick Rose Bulls? I'm pretty sure they were. They have the highest rated show and still manage to talk ALL sports. Imagine that.

The one that is weaseling (typical) is you. For some reason you can never seem to admit when an act of racism is being committed. You only ever address those that point out acts of racism.

It is always done as a means of denying that an act of racism is actually racism.

There are racist people that post on this site. One has admitted to it others haven't.

I actually haven't been the only one to state it either but for some reason you only reserve your "aha" moments for me

I'm quite certain from your posting history that overt acts of racism do not bother you. I can't remember a time when you have condemned it. I can remember numerous times when you have condemned those that dared to speak out about it though.

I'm not calling you racist but it is quite obvious that you are tolerant of it. I don't know you and frankly i have no interest in finding out "what's in your heart" but i do know that your level of inferrence regarding issues of race only pertains to those that seek to address it.

It isn't utilized when it comes to those that engage in racism.

If Bernstein was a young grad entering the sports media world he'd be one of the MANY white upper-middle-class white dudes starting an NBA podcast. I think it's required if you're breaking into sports media.

My searches were timing out but this was literally from just going into a random Other Chicago Sports Media page: viewtopic.php?f=156&t=42938\
The usual theme, now mainly directed at Goff, that Larry's primary gimmick is accusing white people of being racist. Holmes being creepy towards white women was another common trope from back then IIRC.

You're stretching in calling the Derrick Rose Bulls "great", aren't you? Anyway, all those shows talked about Rose and the team that looked like it had an outside shot to beat LeBron. Of course, bernstein is going to talk more NBA than Mac or even Sir. The NBA is his favorite sport.

When the Bulls were great, Monsters and HFC talked Bulls basically all day after football season ended til June. It helped that the Bulls won championships.

I too listened and Bulls talk was very prevalent.

Sure Cubs and Sox would get segments but Bulls talk was well represented.

I remember the Doug Collins/Hubie Brown/Bill Walton segments very well. Later the Chuck Daly stuff as well.

So even back in the Bulls' glory days, national NBA talk was uncommon.

So much for LTG's "credentials"

I was never really a Goff Williams or Holmes guy.

J. Hood however was different. Of the black guys at that station over the years he was the best. You want to talk talent shit he found a way to make a show about wrestling a must listen.

That's talent.

At least Tommy Williams wasn't contemptuous of every caller.

Isn't there a one-sided beef with Sir hating on Tommy?

No because they had Doug Collins and Chuck Daly who provided National NBA talk. that was the only time you'd hear it though.

You want to take another stab at the "credential" game?

NBA was never front and center at that station..There were times it should have been however
