If i actively sought it i'd have no problem finding at least 25 30 posters that hate the shit out of the NBA talk on the Score. Please don't give me the quality of the content bullshit either. They hate the fact that the NBA is even discussed.

Think about the people in this section alone that have chosen to let the world know that "no one gives a shit about the NBA". 2nd most popular sport in this country.

You started talking about basketball in China, and your 1990s sportsradio listening habits, Beardown, and God knows what else.

None of that changes the fact that in the Chicago sports radio market, offseason NFL talk is going to move more meters than regular season national NBA talk. You do not have to like this, but it is a fact. Deal with it.

With that being case why are they talking football and not the NBA?

Reverting back to your orginal premise for thread. This is a big reason why it isn't discussed on AM radio but has MANY podcasts. This demo isn't tuning into AM radio no matter the topic.

The last show did talk NBA (both local and OOT) and it was met with a resounding thud. I for one didn't mind it and hardly ever PTFB because of the NBA talk but I can understand why a lot of people did and I don't think it was anything related to the race of the athletes playing the sport in question nor the race of the host of the show (Goffer). Rather, as another poster pointed out and I forget who, it was the style of NBA talk that failed B&G. Most NBA discussons ended up becoming a verbal masturbation of whatever Lebron did the night before followed by subtle shots at those on "the wrong side of history" in the Lebron/MJ debate. The substance of discussion by B&G left a lot to be desired and so did their quality of NBA guests. You yourself said you thought B&G did a poor job discussing the NBA (national and otherwise) so I am not sure where this all became a referendum on race and not just a show that failed to capture their target audience.

I think I would agree with your first statement in general. However, I don't know that I would agree with it as it relates to sports radio listenership. Particularly in Chicago.

I wonder if anyone (JLN or CH) knows what tv ratings are now for NFL Network vs. NBA Network. Just for shits and giggles.

From my listening to the Score and ESPN, prolonged out of town anything never did real well. It didn't generate calls and would rely on hosts driving the segment.

I don't think it's fair to call Beardown's posts racist. They're simply a commentary on the way race is a focal point of particular shows. "Big Black Studs". "Wildebeests".
