 Post subject: Why LISTEN?
PostPosted: Sat Jan 21, 2006 3:10 pm
I do appreciate the constant reaffirmations that I made an excellent choice of no longer listening AT ALL to Mr. North, but I do wonder why some of you do?

Truely not here to ridicule you, more of a curious insight?

At the same time my listening pattern for the rest of the day has changed completely, thus my current Score events infortmation has come mostly from this board.

I am not upset at the Score, after all it is just a radio station, but more dissapointed and of course I moved on to other radio shows, as the ones who truely suffer are WSCR and company for losing a large number of fans that provided the support the station needed to grow.

Each and every person associated with the station talking about the positive ratings, but it is very hard for any intelligent sports fan in this city that did listen to the Score to think that with the Mike North show in it's current format they not only replaced all the listeners they lost, but added on to that?

while I am Sox fan, I do question the business move, only based on the information that the station that had them before, had no interest in them? and WSCR was the only bidder?

My reason is that it's a habit. I've been listening to this station since about its beginning. I went from Dahl to Matthews to the Score. I was enthused about all-sports radio. Every radio I own is set first to the Score. I start there when the radio goes on and would like to just leave it there. Then I hear North's voice and I think "Well, let's see what he's confused about today". " Let's see how bad its going to be today".

But I don't stay long. Score management should realize that they can lose an all day listener like me with a horrendous show like North's. All of a sudden I find other stations on the radio. Some sports, some music, some news, some talk. Some stations that I start looking for at other times of the day besides morning.

Who is listening to this commercial-loaded silly mix of talk about dead singers named Patsy and old comedians and gangster movies and how much North drank last night and who he drank it with and where he drank it and who he wants executed and how he wants him executed and Kofi Anin and Ted Kennedy and Bebe and dogs and God knows what. All this while arguing with Annie and with Hubner playing Mr. Smithers.

North and weekend gambling info-mercials have me all over the dial now. Who they're replacing me with I have no idea. If they squeeze in a little Bears with O'Bradovich is that supposed to satisfy me? Well, it doesn't. It's not enough.

The posts are considerably down in this section. I'm sure many took your route and may have stopped. I'm sure some do a revisit when they hear better ratings, more sports talk, and after a big event (he had the heads up on the day after of Bears game), but then end up slapping themselves

You nailed it in one, at least as far as I'm concerned, mr mystery guest. After a suggestion from Rock (the only one of the morning crew I have ANY respect for) I decided to give it a try this week. Instead of hearing /sarcasm on Mike North talks sports /sarcasm off I found out that Mikey & his wife had sex for 14 minutes, Joey "the clown" looks like Saddam Hussein, Fred likes lesbian scenes in movies, Annie hates Tom Jones, all the while hearing commercials ripping the "other station" for not talking enough local sports

Maybe I'll give the morning show another try in a few months :-)

You listen for the same reason you look over your shoulder after passing a horrific car accident. You know its gonna be bad but you have to check it out.

That being said its only for 5 minutes once a week and no Mitch I never stick for any of you commercials.

Iused to listen to mike from beginning to end. he has turned into the e channel with all his non sports guest. i am trying to figure out why anne is necessary , except to bash bush. i usually switch channels as soon as i hear her voice, mike you forgot your roots -sports. you were once very entertaining. go back to sports format. jim and approx :x 20 friends who barely listen to you anymore.

I listen because of Annie's insightful commentaries. She adds so much to the show!! I'm sure she's the main draw for all the new listeners. LOL!!!

I listened to this fart of a radio show for 20 minutes for the first time in a long time yesterday. It's still terrible!!!!!!! Mike and Mike is infinitely superior. They are intelligent pro's with radio skills who can keep a listener interested even if they are not local. North's show is rudderless and the host is an egotistical idiot.

Maybe I'll give it another try in 6 months.
