I do see why he's gone from the Score- doesn't care what the audience thinks, just that his thoughts are what counts.
Sorry, they don't Jason.

"Jason Goff – I grew up listening to sports talk radio. I feel we sometimes insult our listeners because we think there is a topic they can’t handle. Sports can be a vehicle to talk about something else, people say stick to sports, but sometimes there’s something deeper than sports and people like learning more than they don’t like learning.

How many people have zero connection with a minority in their day, radio stations can provide people with that connection.

I never understood why a sports station isn’t the number one because everyone can relate, everybody’s reacting to sports. I’m not here to make you feel the best or worst, but I’m here to make you feel, it’s great to think differently because the audience isn’t just the 25-54 year old male."

For someone who claims to still be employed by The Score, they sure don't list it:

Goff appears as:
Jason Goff – Chicago Sports Radio Host

Parkins appears as:
Danny Parkins – 670 The Score

He should join Julie's podcast and the two failures can lecture the world on how they would
rule the world

Goff says he works for the SCORE on twitter.

They're probably trying to work something out. But if I'm Goff, I don't take a pay cut to be free. He should make them pay his ass until the contract is over. I doubt it's 3 years like some have suggested. It's probably a few more months then the SCORE has an option.

Because when they sign 3 year deals, the SCORE has an option after each year is up. Goff said that when he got his initial 2 year deal when he came back to the SCORE. His words were "2 year deal with a SCORE option after year 1".

They do this "option" shit for the lessor guys. Guys just starting. Because the SCORE has the leverage. McNight, Goff and Parkins are gonna agree because they've got nothing better. They have no status or track record of success.

Guys like Bernstein, Boers and Mac don't have this. They have guaranteed 3 or 4 year deals when they sign them. Same with Mully and Hanley after their initial deal once they proved themselves.

geez. When you promote your biz as a sports radio station, I expect sports radio. Goff must live in some separate world. But what he said has Bernstein written all over it.

"How many people have zero connection with a minority in their day, radio stations can provide people with that connection."

Odd statement--starting with the conflation of "people" and "minorities," though he was speaking, so I'll cut him a break. I think we know what he meant.

No connection with minorities--in Chicago and its suburbs? I suppose that could be true, but it is getting more and more difficult to do, if that's your thing.

But it's the ideological predictability and the smugness (not to mention his own annoying quirks and interests) that drove some people away. Some people talk and write about the issues Goff does and I give a shit or I come away with a different point of view (I'm in Gatlinburg right now), but when Goff talks, I just want to stop listening.

Radio hosts don't win timeslots, organizations win timeslots.

Goff's statement is fine. But it is sports radio.

Ya know what, if black people laugh at everything, say stupid shit and constantly insinuate racism, then I don't want to meet black people.

I want to meet the ones that don't do that. And least not ALL THE TIME. Ya know what, I want Goff to meet those black people too. He'd be shocked that they exist.

Goff makes the mistake of thinking he speaks for all black people.

General disconnect here - Goff (and others) feel, in an age of Trump that rights/freedoms are going away (evidence not needed).

They use this as a backdrop to take on non-sports issues. They fail to realize that a percentage of listeners barely respect their sports opinions much less them spending large portions of shows on social justice. Some hosts falsely belief that having a show makes their non-sports opinions somehow important or elevated.

Goff found out the hard way; few listeners probably are interested in what he thinks about Trump or social justice issues, but when you have a fraction of an audience telling you how great it is, they probably lose realization of how ridiculous they sound, much less the ignorance of their knowledge.

Jason, people didn't turn off the radio because THEY couldn't handle the topics. They turned it off because they thought YOU couldn't handle the topics.

His statement should’ve ended right after he said sometimes I feel we insult our listeners. That’s pretty much ballgame right there

Goff still doesn't get what his job is for a drive-time sports radio person. It's to be entertaining. Your audience are people who have been busting their hump for 8 hours and want to be entertained on the drive home, not lectured. He was handled a great slot and he was boring. No one wants to hear about his lady, his kid's crapping problems and Lebron James every day. How is that entertaining to anyone. He may be an angry black man with plenty of opinions and all, but it needs to be tempered with what the format is and execute that. He didn't what to do that and look where it got him.

And while I have you on the phone, I agree with Dan's opinions on Aiyana Cristal's chest. But why do you think CSN hired her? Her sports knowledge? Her voice? It was the way she looks. No one wants to look at DiCaro doing updates. You want to look at an attractive woman, not some cow.

Goff translated:

'The listeners are smart enough to listen to COMPLICATED topics like race and politics, except all the stupid listeners from outside of Chicago like all of downstate and the 815 area code. Not those stupid hillbillies. Or any of the callers who say hi or try to use typical speech patterns to start a conversation. So other than those idiots the rest of the audience can handle the topic of listening to me talk about whatever I feel like because they don't interact with enough minorities in their everyday lives."

Don’t know how to take a twitter screen shot and upload.

@9thwonder: Artists, for the millionth time... do the music you wanna do. People don’t know what they like, until they are told to like it. Twitter allows you to see this in real time.

Goff retweeted it with the comment: “Truth across many industries.”

Whatever, Goff. Is laughing at paint drying art? Is laughing at the rain art? Goff would say so. Cuz he fucking laughs at everything. But most people would say it's an insane person. Everything is so deep with Goff. LOW VOICE TO SHOW HOW DEEP THINGS ARE.

He can think what he wants. And there is something to Spiegel getting a soft landing and him not getting that. I've said I didn't like how Goff got done. But Goff was bad. Laughing, talking over people, long questions in interviews. White or black, it was bad. If he doesn't realize that, he'll never get a 2nd bite at the apple.
