It would be hilarious is they nixed Beadle and Rose, and brought in "the Golics" to co-host with Greenie.

Come to think of it this puts ESPN over a social justice barrel ala what happened at the Score. If say in 6 months the ratings are still horrible and they are forced to make changes and do let go the blackthlete and woman and keep the established former ratings getter in Greenberg ( like Lil Danny), they face a PR nightmare .

Mike "Common Man" (oof) Ricardoti is the afternoon host on ESPN 97.1 here in Columbus, and he has no problem ripping the mothership for many decisions it has made over the years. He said last week that this show was doomed to failure. Too much money invested, plus the network has lost its way with the kind of original programming that succeeded in the past - which was mainly Sportscenter when it was just a highlight show.

You have to figure with the initial investment for just the three hosts, plus renting a huge studio in Manhattan...this has money pit written all over it.

ESPN thinks because of the internet and social media, content/highlights can be accessed in a couple seconds. That’s true. If you’re not watching the Cubs game and you follow the Cubs Twitter account, they’ll post a Schwarber home run clip minutes after it happens. I didn’t know about Otani’s night at the plate yesterday until this afternoon because I’m not following the Angels account or any Angel writers. Most people don’t know Josh Jackson (quickly becoming a THING) scored 28 points last night snapping a 15 game losing streak. I’m not actively seeking out sports scores and game recaps. That would take way too long. SportsCenter was the best and still would be the best at condensing highlights of every game and delivering to you in an hour. There’s no other sports show/podcast that I know of as great as SC was. I don’t want 3 minutes of opinions on Giancarlo striking out 5 times in game #6 of 162. I just want highlights. I think I used to know more about what was going on nationally when social media didn’t exist and SportsCenter was always turned on in the morning.

there is a huge segment of the cable bill paying population that is phone/internet stupid. I'm part of a fishing club where at 37 i'm probably the youngest guy there. its full of 40 something to on death bed members. there are about 150 of them. small sample size and OBVIOUSLY not a core demographic but still with lots of buying power. they all hate espn because its not a highlight show anymore. its a sports commentary program with highlights sprinkled in.

as i was getting ready i had get up on again.. i mean its cold pizza with more expensive hosts.

the best show on espn is sportsnation. because it is fun. this show is trying to be too serious and who wants that in the morning.

This isn't really true. It's just like the people who say "I remember when MTV used to play music videos!". People didn't watch it very much so they had to adjust.

ESPNNews exists for that specific purpose. It doesn't get very good ratings.
