I don't generally watch NBA until after the tournament, I'm sure there's some people here with a lot more informed opinions. Anyhoo, here's my picks

ALL NBA
1st team

F Lebron James
F Amare Stoudamire*
C Dwight Howard
G Chris Paul
G Kobe Bryant

2nd team

F Tim Duncan
F Kevin Garnett
C Yao Ming#
G Steve Nash
G Tracy McGrady

*# I was tempted to put Stoudamire at C, he played there most of the year, move Howard to the 2nd team and snub Yao (due to missing much of the year and mostly a good portion of the streak) but i suppose Stoudamire is a natural 4 anyway. This would have made Garnett my 1st team F pick, and i probably would have thrown 'melo onto the 2nd team F slot.

Rookie of the Year

1. Kevin Durant
2. Al Horford
3. Luis Scola
3a. Greg Oden (kidding!)

This years crop looks a bit thin, I honestly don't know who to put on here. Durant can jack up quite a few shots and I wonder about his development in the non-offensive aspects of his game but he is really young and has an nice complement of size, athleticism, and ability to create a shot .

Defensive player of the year
1.
2.
3.

I will not offend you with my uninformed opinion in this area, truth be told i haven't examined enough games around the league this year in great detail to offer even a whiff of an expert opinion in this aspect of the game, I will leave this to the heavy hitters to speculate in this topic.

6th man

1. Manu Ginobili
2. Leandro Barbosa

Both these chaps can really fill it up, but Manu is just CLUTCH.

MIP

Can they give this award to the same guy 2 years in a row? Love Mona Ellis' game. Yeah

For Defensive Player of the year, Josh Smith will get a look. He's averaging almost 3 blocks a game and over 6 defensive boards. Marcus Camby will get a look to repeatas well, leading the league in blocks.

Had he not got hurt, I would have said Chris Kaman for Most Improved Player. Rudy Gay might have a good shot as well.

Had he not gotten hurt, I'd speculate thaat Andrew Bynum was well on his way to the MIP.

ROY: Al Horford. Nothing against Durant, but he's just putting up numbers because he's on a terrible team and is the only option. His FG% is not very impressive. Horford is nearly averaging a double-double, has played good defense on a lot of top tier frontcourt players and is a key component on a playoff bound team

6th Man: Josh Childress. Shooting an incredible 58%FG, averaging 11.9/4.8/1.5. I'd probably agree with Manu over him, but it's hard for me to consider him a true 6th man...but on the other hand he does only average a few more minutes than Childress so they both log heavy minutes. However Manu takes a lot more shots

MIP: Hard to say....I'd really have to say Monta Ellis. Although his numbers haven't gone up THAT much since last year, I think you'd have to agree he really has taken his game to another level. Other players I think you'd have to consider would be Jose Calderon or Danny Granger. I agree with Apologist though in that had Bynum not gotten injured, he would have had this award easily

DPOY: Again, hard to say, you could make a case for a number of players but I'd have to go with Garnett. My darkhorse who of course no way in hell he wins but Andre Igodoula. Really, I hadn't watched too many Sixers game and considered them pretty boring team, but this team really plays great defense and AI is a big part of that.

I'm not buying that. DPOY for a player on a team that routinely gives up 130 points a game? Putting up great fantasy numbers isn't the only criteria here

Not sure if I'd have him at #1, but I'd at least have Mo Cheeks in the team picture. He's got that team seriously overachieving. I think everyone assumed they were going to trade Andre Miller at the deadline and just fade into obscurity. Instead they are in the thick of things in the East and playing great right now

I realize we're talking about an individual player here, but c'mon....

For the DPOY, I have to give it to Camby. I know his team is garbage defensively, but I dont think thats his fault. I think him and Tim Duncan are the best two defensive big guys in the league. If you traded him right now with Yao Ming  , the Rockets are right up there with any team in the league.

As for COY, Im not sure Mo Cheeks has less talent then Portland does, and they have virtually the same record but in very different conferences. Seems like Portland would be a #4 seed in the East. I just think Nate has done more. Adelman is questionable but I think its impressive how he adapted his coaching style to his personell, not the other way around. I have to give it to Scott though because I think hes always been a hell of a coach, and I think he deserves some recognition if he wins the West and for developing all the young players on the roster.

Hollinger has an article on EPSN right now detailing his all-defensive team, and picked Garnett as DPOY

Some of his picks are a bit strange to me, I admit. Keyon Dooling?

Wouldn't Doolings accomplishments be tempered somewhat by the fact he plays mostly in garbage time?

I don't even know what team Dooling plays for...

Magic

Admittedly I haven't watched all that many Magic games this year, but I can't even remember seeing him play.

I remember him more when he was on the Clippers, but I can't say I really know a great deal about his defensive game. I always just kind of considered him a backup/mop-up guy, like you said

Rondo was an interesting first team pick as well. Seems a little high to me, but I can see it.

I had to laugh when he let us in on the fact that Denver is 10th in defensive efficiency. That is exactly one of the reasons people hate stat geeks. They are clearly one of the 3 worst defensive teams in the league, if not the worst.

I didn't watch a ton of the Hawks but can someone (Bagels) tell me how Josh Smith was not named to the 1st or second team All defensive team?

1st team: Duncan, Garnett, Bowen, Camby and Bryant
2nd team: Bell, Prince, Battier, Paul and Howard

I thought Battier should have made it over Bowen. As for Josh Smith, he's always put up fantastic defensive stats, but no GM in the league would say hes a better defender then Bowen, Battier, or Prince. I've thought Bell has been overrated since the '06 playoffs.
