No posts or new threads in this section Does that mean nobody is listening?

Nobody else heard Carmen this morning go off on his rant about Ozzie and how it was so wrong of Ozzie to go on his rant about the umpire? Carmen did make a good point that Ozzie didn't help himself by going public about an umpire. But Carmen's rant about Ozzie was classic irony. One of local radio's most hot-headed hosts went off on a shrill rant about one of baseball's most hot-headed managers. It was a pot meet kettle moment.

I thought the show was okay. I did like the Tom Crean interview and his responses to the Marquette fans who thought he had dissed his players by not communicating with them. Only problem with that interview was that Mike North asked the same questions of Crean 30 minutes earlier. So it was a bit deja-vu for this listener. And more than a little amusing that different radio hosts asked almost the exact same questions. Silvy & Carmen = Mike North. MATCH!

I think no one really posts here because the show is pretty solid.

I prefer carmen and silvery. Waddle is off and on for me. He says stuff that makes me want to run my car off the road.

I didnt know Carmen was thought of as a hot-headed host. I thought one of the common complaints against him was that he had no on air personality and sounded like a drone.

One man's drone is another man's hot head, I guess. Maybe Favre fan has an affinity for young guys who exhibit the arrogance and anger of youth. Who woulda thunk it?

Some people say Silvy whines too much. I don't agree. Some people say Waddle makes them drive off the road. I don't agree with that either. Two things we do know from this thread are that: 1) some of us have quite different views of radio hosts; and 2) somebody needs to work on their driving skills.

Im still not sure why you consider him a hot-head. This isnt a defense of him, just an inquiry. I havent heard him referred to that before. Were there some on or off-air incidents I wasnt aware of?

I think it is fair to classify Carmen as a hot head. When Carm has the "fired and the passion" about an issue, he certainly can be. Not red-assey, just hot heady.

A few years ago, he did pregame Bulls shows outside the Carvery at the UC. I had season tickets and would eat there before the games. He would yell at fans who were only trying to say hi or whatever with stuff like "Shut the hell up, I'm on the air here." I guess that image of intemperate public behavior has stuck with me and maybe has colored my view of him. But wasn't there an ESPN office destruction episode where he and Silvy got into it? I don't recall. Any way, on the air, he sometimes sounds shrill and angry to me. That's how I hear him anyway. To some people maybe that's the kind of fire and the passion they want coming out of their radio.

I wasnt aware of those incidents Coast. To me he doesnt come off as the type of guy that would say "Shut the hell up" to a fan saying hi, that seems more like Boers or Bernsie. Well hopefully he still isnt like that, still havent been to a remote with him yet.

Waddle seems MIA a lot. There are days I tire of him and flip to Mully and Hanley. It's disappointing because I want to like him.

I like Carmen a lot with almost any cohosts. I think he brings out the best in them and curbs the worst.

I generally like Silvy too. I couldn't stand him with Mariotti. There are times where I find myself thinking what a goof but he is an alright listen.

Coast, I don't have a better way to phrase this question...Why do young people irk you so much?

Spaulding, I'm not irked by young people. There are a lot of young guys and gals I like. I think that's an unfair rap. Aren't there some people -- of any age -- that irk you? It's not an age thing for me. I don't particularly like Mike Murphy, Giangreco, or Fred Huebner either. And they aren't young.

I can see where you get that idea though. I kid some of the younger people here about their arrogance or anger of youth, perhaps because I see myself 25 years ago. When I was young, I too had all the answers. Now, I mostly just have the questions. When I was young, I had all kinds of energy and anger about the actions of other people. Now I realize anger is a waste of energy and I don't have a whole lot to waste.

Agree. There isn't too much controversy and they don't have someone like Harry who smoozes everything Chicago.

But unending "disagreements" on a message board are a fruitful avenue on which to spend time & energy?

I didn't think you felt that way about all young people. You've said things along those lines more than once but I've never heard you complain about the old people.

I complain about everybody. There are people who annoy me from all walks of life.

Why does the streaming have extended commericals? I missed half of the 1st segment -- anyone else get this? Streaming got interrupted at the start of the show then cut in at about 9:05am?

The streaming always has problems. Sometimes the stream will be interrupted for a minute and come back right where it left off, only for a few seconds later actually catching up to where the show is currently at. It's as confusing as my description.

The webcast does this about once every month; I don't know what happens, but the switch isn't flipped until 9 minutes after the hour. The people in charge of the webcast are criminally inept.

Hmm... 5 minutes past the hour, and still no S&W on the webcast. Looks like they're still doing the "no first 10 minutes of the show for you, webcast listeners" thing again this week. Fucking asshole cocksuckers working the webcast.
